When I reboot, my monitor arrangement starts out just as it was in the prior session.

However, after about 30 seconds my monitor arrangement is reset and all monitors are aligned along their bottoms.

I can use the monitor configuration option to retrieve my desired settings and then all is good until the next reboot.

I'll bite.

  • Have you tried the newest beta, ver 3.4.0 (beta 19)?
  • Do you have any other monitor aware programs (such as device drivers) that might be making the change?
  • Does DF ever show some sort of balloon popup advising you that the display settings have been changed?
I am I.

Yes

Not that I'm aware of, although I did have DisplayLink drivers loaded a few weeks ago. Since removed.

I have DF set to automatically adjust the wallpaper if it senses the need to do that. If I clear that switch, then yes I do get a balloon once the monitor configuration reverts.

Does the issue still occur if you disable DisplayFusion from starting up with Windows? Also, what operating system are you running?

Thanks!

Yes, it still occurs. It's a relatively new phenomenon and I thought it was assocated with loading the beta. But perhaps not.

This is Windows 7, SP1. However, it's on a Sony VPC-Z2, which has that outboard dock with its own video card, etc.

Ok, glad to hear it's not a DisplayFusion issue. Not sure if I can be much help though. It sounds like maybe an issue with the display drivers. Are you running the latest version?

Well, with Sony, the term "latest drivers" is somewhat of an oxymoron. They rarely update. Not their style.

So, here's a suggestion for you:

Just like you automatically recognize the need to realign the wallpaper, how about automatically recognizing the need to realign the monitors to some default profile.

Thx,
Bob

So the problem turns out to be AMD's Catalyst Control Center. In this configuration, when it starts up it resets the screen positions.
