hello,

I'm using Nvidia surround mode (3 monitor) and the latest beta 3 broke the monitor split. Is there any new option that I need to turn on maybe ?

And when it works (older version), if I put window taskbar to the far right or left it create invisible padding to the opposite side of the screen that as wide as the taskbar, is there a way to get around this?

thank you :)

I'm using window 10

I'm sorry to hear that. :( How did the splitting break? Do windows no longer maximize to the splits? Is it all applications that are affected or only some?

Does this happen with all applications or certain ones? Are you using the latest nVidia drivers (355.80 I believe)? Thanks!

as far as I can tell it's all application (browser, windows, game, movies, etc). I'm using the latest driver 355.80 and also the older driver back when the split still working.

I'm going to try v7.2 and see if it works again.

I'm going to re-test this here in the morning to see what I can find out. In the meantime, can you check the Windows Task Manager to see if there are any "nvsmartmaxapp" processes running?

Ok, can you try the following?
  • In the DisplayFusion Advanced Settings, make sure "Don't disable nvidia helper processes" is not enabled
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • You should get prompted to disable the Nvidia helper processes, make sure to click "Yes"
  • Restart your computer

i did all the step above, it ask to reboot computer, unfortunately the split still doesn't work.

edit: it actually somewhat working but acting really weird. On windows if i drag the window to the edge to maximize, it will always jump into the first split), on firefox if I drag to the edge to maximize it will maximize to the whole screen. And if I double click them, they will maximize into the proper split.

It's acting kinda differently every programs, it's kinda hard to describe but it jumps around

Also, it made my game to stutter quite heavily , haven't try different game but the stutter gone when I quit display fusion (7.3 beta 3 and 4 only)

Thank you

I've confirmed the issue with Firefox, but other apps seem to be fine for me. If you just click the Maximize button instead of dragging to the top edge, do the windows stay within the splits?

Also, could you try this build: https://www.binaryfortress.com/Files/DisplayFusion/DisplayFusionSetup-7.3.exe and send me a debug log?
  • On the Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal"
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Use your computer normally for a few minutes
  • Send us the DisplayFusion.log and DebugInfo.html files (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks!

Thanks, can you attach your troubleshooting info too?
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Open Log" button
  • Reply with the "DebugInfo.html" file from that folder attached

Actually, never mind about the troubleshooting info, we've just posted 7.3 Beta 5 (https://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta), could you give that one a try?

Thanks!

I tried the beta 5 and it still behave similar to v4, firefox still maximize to whole screen if u dragged into the edge. However now I can somewhat explain the weird maximizing behaviour. The window/apps will maximize into the split that they are currently active on. So if I have window active on split 1 and try to drag into different split, it will snap back into split 1. I hope that make sense.

And as I mentioned about stuttering before, It appears that it has perfomance (bug?) issue with autohotkey. It might have something to do when autohotkey try to search image or pixel in the screen. This doesn't happen in 7.2 and 7.3 beta 2

Thank you.

We posted 7.3 Beta 6 with some more splitting changes this weekend. Could you give it a try and let me know if you're still running into these issues?

Thanks!

Thanks

Ok, could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info? I'll setup a test system with the same monitor configuration as yours to see what I can find out :)

Thanks!

Just a quick update, I was able to reproduce the splitting issues you are running into :)

Regarding the performance issues, everything seems to work ok when I test it here. Would you be able to share the AutoHotKey script that you mentioned might be contributing to the issue?

hi, thx for the update

I'll make a simple autohotkey script this weekend and hopefully will create the stuttering problem. I think it has something to do with image search.

Thank you

I attached 2 autohotkey scripts that will cause stutter on 7.3 but not on 7.2

search_empty.ahk is just a pixel search that wont do anything
search_splash_image.ahk is a pixel search that when the pixel isn't found it will try to load a png image with white as transparant.

run both of them at the same time to create the stutter

I made the script to run faster to exaggerate the stutter.

Also it's not necessarily need to be these 2 scripts, If I run the first script around 8 times simultaneously it will also cause stutter.

Thank you.

We've tested this out here but couldn't get any games to stutter here when running these scripts. Couple of questions for you:
  • What CPU and video card is in your system?
  • Could you list a few of the games this occurs in? Perhaps we're not testing with the right games here.

Thanks!

it should create perfomance issue right in windows, like if you drag around window it should stutter and lags, at least thats how it is on my computer. So anything gets affected not just games.

I'm using Intel® Core™ i7-5820K, with 2xgigabyte 970 on sli, using nvidia surround mode

Thanks

Thanks! I can indeed reproduce that, but it happens regardless of whether or not DisplayFusion is running. Just running those two scripts on my machine causes applications to stutter when being dragged around.

hmm, it's not happening on my machine, only if Im using 7.3. And I've been running similar codes for quite sometime now.

Any other idea?

Not sure, no :(

The only thing I can suggest is trying to disable certain DF features (taskbars, titlebar buttons, etc) one at a time to see if disabling a specific feature resolves the issue.
