Hello,
I found your website today and wanted to know if I am able to run this program with an 8 TV set up I have in my office. This PC displays currently Google chrome on 3 monitors, Firefox on 1, IE stretched down to take up 2 monitors and I have a special phone program that runs on the other two monitors. I am wondering if there is a way that I can set up displayfusion to at the very least launch all my browsers in the specified windows. . Here is how the screen set up is on the wall:

1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8

1 & 5 are the stretched IE
2, 6, 7 are Chrome
3 is Firefox
4 & 8 use the phone program

With the latest beta (https://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta) you should be able to do this. Here are the basic steps to achieve what you're looking for:
  • On the Settings > Functions tab, add Custom Functions to launch each application (example screenshot attached).
  • On the Settings > Triggers tab, add a new Trigger with the "DisplayFusion Starts" event, and add all of the Custom Functions from Step 1 as Actions. Restart DisplayFusion to test the launching.
  • Manually position and size each window.
  • Add new Triggers for each window, and in the Actions, choose "Move Window to Specific Size and Location," using the picker to select the window to get its size/location.
  • After you've setup all the Trigger rules, restart DF again to test. It should launch all of the applications, and move them to their correct locations :)

Note, the browser windows are tricky, because they all run under the same process name. To move the separate websites, you'll need to add the Window Text as a match condition as well. For example, if one of your Chrome windows is set to launch with the DisplayFusion website, make sure to put DisplayFusion in the Window Text box so that the Trigger rule matches only Chrome windows with "DisplayFusion" in the title.

Hope that helps!

I have tried it and with no luck. When I set it up to run when Displayfusion starts it doesn't let me put anything in on the window text. It will open the windows but not in the right monitrors and not maximized, even though I put in the specific actions.

Even when I make the event "Window created" it still does not function properly with the information you have given me and I am running these tests on a two monitor system before I put this on the 8 screen machine.

You need to add two types of triggers. One "DisplayFusion Starts" trigger to launch all of the programs, and then a separate "Window Created" trigger for each program that you want to move. For example, if you wanted to launch Notepad and Calculator, and move them to monitors 1 and 2, you'd setup the following:
  • DisplayFusion Starts trigger that launches Notepad and Calculator
  • Window Created trigger to move Notepad to a specified location
  • Window Created trigger to move Calculator to a specified location

It sounds a bit confusing, but the reason is that the window moving actions in the triggers need to be passed a window handle so they know which window to move. If you launch a bunch of programs in a DisplayFusion Starts trigger, and then make the next action "Move Window to Monitor 2," how does it know which window to move?

Hope that makes sense! Please let me know if you still run into any trouble :)
