if these issues have already been posted, then please disregard this message. i am a bit displeased with a few of the updated features. when i change a wallpaper, i see the 'apply' screen, and then the wallpaper changer goes away, and THEN the wallpaper changes. this is not much of an issue, other than it's just really annoying. also, while the wallpaper is changing, it freezes my mouse. but the main issue that i find most annoying, is that when i open the wallpaper changer, and then the wallpaper choosing window, it has stopped saving the window position, so everytime i open it, i have to drag and expand the window size.

and the last issue i wanted to mention, is not that important, but it's just something that bothered me (being a little ocd, i guess), is that the image in the screen display in the wallpaper changer became grainy, as (i assume) it's borrowing its image from the windows thumbnail, instead of the fullsize image file. being that i have a fast computer, i didn't notice any differences in speed with either one, so if you did it as a speed saving thing, it would just be nice to have it back the old way.

and finally, i just had a bit of a suggestion. instead of having to right click the image of the monitor to load a wallpaper, it would be awesome to just have a button underneath to click on. i know there are more functions in the right click menu, so keep the menu, but just for the main function of 'load image', would be convenient to have a button. you could even set it to show a 'load image' button for each monitor you want a separate image on, or, if you choose 'stretch image across all monitors', it would only show one button. i don't know, maybe that would take too much work. but my point is, it would just be convenient to have a 'load image' button, instead of having to right click. maybe i'm just lazy, who knows. i just get a little conphuzed with the menu. these issues are not critical (except maybe the window size saving of the wallpaper choosing window/dialog), so please take your time with them. thank you again.

i would also kill for a minimize function on the wallpaper changer window! (has no one requested that yet?)

The issue of the mouse stuttering when the wallpaper changes should hopefully be fixed up in 4.2 Beta 3, which was just released a few minutes ago. Could you give it a try when you have a chance?

As for the thumbnail preview in the wallpaper configuration being grainy, which wallpaper source are you using?

Right-clicking the monitor isn't necessary to load images. If you choose "Single Image" from the Image Mode drop-down, you'll then get a "Load From" button underneath :)

As for the file browse dialog that pops up, that's just a standard Windows control, so it's somewhat out of our control, but you may be able to fix it by doing the following:
  • Open the dialog to browse for an image
  • Resize it
  • Instead of choosing an image or hitting cancel, close it using the "X" close button on the top-right corner
  • Open it again, it should be the same size as it was after you resized it

We actually haven't had anyone request that we add a minimize button yet, as people don't usually leave the wallpaper configuration open for extended periods of time :)

well, keith, the mouse stuttering issue is still present, and i just updated to beta five.

and i'm not sure what you mean by 'wallpaper source', but i use jpeg images (.jpg) from my harddrive. occasionally bmp. they didn't used to be blurry/grainy, they used to be very clear. it helps, because you can see if the picture doesn't look right before you even apply it.

and for the 'load from' button, it's still a menu. i know it's a rather pointless request, but it would be cool if there were a button to load an image from 'my computer', and then a menu for all the rest of the options. (there's room down there for an extra button; maybe even set an option for which function each user uses most, and make that the 'quick load' button, or something).

now the file browse dialog. i tried what you said, and it did not work. the thing is, it used to work. and i haven't made any changed to my windows for a long time, and all my other file browse dialogs for every other program still save the position.

and finally, the minimize. it's not for leaving the window open for long, but it would help when you're choosing different images, and would like to minimize the window out of the way, so you can see the wallpaper, and then bring it back up to change to another wallpaper, instead of closing it and reopening it, or dragging it down.

and i also hope you're still able to address the 'wallpaper changing after the window closes' issue, even though it's... again... not that big a deal. i would sure appreciate it, though.

anyway, thank you, and i'm sorry it takes me so long to get back to you.

No worries! Would you be able to try an older version of DisplayFusion to see if the mouse stuttering still happens? Just curious to see if it's something that's broken in recent versions. Here are a few versions you can try. If you could also check the quality of the previews in those versions, that would be great.

http://www.binaryfortress.com/Files/DisplayFusionSetup-3.4.1.exe
http://www.binaryfortress.com/Files/DisplayFusionSetup-4.0.exe
http://www.binaryfortress.com/Files/DisplayFusionSetup-4.0.1.exe

As for the file browse dialog, I'm not sure what else you can try. The steps I mentioned in the previous post work perfectly for me, and DisplayFusion itself can't set the size of the File Browse dialog, so there must be something else weird going on that's causing it not to remember the last size.

Thanks!

well, i did the 3.4.1, and it works perfectly, and got rid of all of my issues.

1. the image preview is clear and sharp.
2. the wallpaper applies immediately.
3. the mouse does not freeze at all.
4. the wallpaper manager actually seems to work faster. even opens faster.
5. when i minimize a window on the secondary (df) monitor, the minimize and restore animations work as they should.
6. the file browse/open dialog keeps its size.

please be sure to let me know when these issues are resolved, so i can upgrade to the latest version again. thank you for everything, keith.

Just a quick update: We've just released 4.3 Beta 3, and the image preview in the Wallpaper window should now look much better. If you have a chance, could you try updating to 4.3 Beta 3, and let me know if the other issues still exist as well?

Thanks!

Would you also be able to attach a copy of the info from the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab? I've got another customer who's run into the issue with the system stuttering during wallpaper changes, so I'd like to compare your configurations.

Thanks!

We've just released DisplayFusion 5.1 Beta 6 (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/), and we've hopefully gotten the mouse stuttering during wallpaper changes issues all fixed up. Could you give it a try when you have a chance and let me know how it works out?

Thanks!
