Adding a split shifts the taskbar and background settings of all the splits after it. Is there a way to prevent this or correct it without reconfiguring everything?

example vertical splits:
Starting with solid background red green blue:
r|g|b

Add new split is made to the left of r:
?|r|b|g

Results in backgrounds and taskbars shifted this way:
r|g|b|!

The xml is almost there but needs a virtualization at "Monitor1_Splits" so that the splits can be re-ordered easily. Is there another way?

This is the expected behaviour because the splits are numbered from left-to-right like so: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc.

However, I can see where you're coming from with not wanting the existing taskbars/wallpaper to be moved over when adding a split on the left. I will put this on our list to investigate for a future version :)

Thanks!
