I'm running DisplayFusion Pro 10.1.2 on a new laptop (supplied by my emploer) which is running Windows 11 21H2 Enterprise. In DisplayFusion's Settings > Options I am selecting the 'Show in Windows desktop context menu' option and then clicking 'Apply'. After a couple of seconds' delay the option is automatically deselected!
How can I get this option to stick so that I see DisplayFusion entries in the Windows desktop contect menu?
> Does your IT department control the policies on that computer? I wonder if they are blocking that setting from being applied
The new laptop is replacing my current work laptop which is running DisplayFusion Pro 10.1.2 on Windows 10 Enterprise. Both current and new laptops report that 'Some settings are managed by your system administrator' in DisplayFusion's settings, but the Windows 10 laptop does not exhibit this option deselection issue.
It's probably worth talking to your IT department, if the setting is just reverting without an error being shown I would guess that's what's happening
Hi Owen,
I've spoken to the IT department who tell me there is no policy in place to disallow apps from adding to the context menu.
Could you tell me one of the registry key/value that DF tries to set when that option is selected? I could then check if it's the permissions on the registry key that are preventing the option from sticking.
Yep, it's this registry key: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Binary Fortress Software\DisplayFusion\ShowDesktopContextMenuItems
Hi Owen,
On deleting the 2 registry values below HKLM\SOFTWARE\Binary Fortress Software\DisplayFusion (as you suggested for my other current issue, "'Start with Windows' and 'Show in Windows desktop context menu' options are greyed out") this issue was resolved!
