Hi!
I've noticed that alt+tab works in a weird way when using displayFusion. It only shows the programs that are running om my main monitor and not my secondary. Is there anyway to change this so that i can alt+tab between all programs? This would be very helpful!

Yeah its Win 8. Any ETA on when it will be fixed.
Not yet unfortunately, it's a weird issue. I'll post an update as soon as we have one though.
Thanks!

Is there any update on this issue? I noticed 4.3 came out today, but Alt-Tab still isn't working for me properly on Windows 8.
So far the only way we've been able to get around it, is by creating our own Alt+Tab handler from scratch. It's still a work in progress, but if you guys would like to try it out, just enable the "Alt+Tab Handler: Force Enabled" option in the Advanced Settings.
If you do get a chance to try it out, please let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

I tried "Alt+Tab Handler: Force Enabled", and it seems to fix the Alt Tab problem.
One issue: it appears to not update the window title in the alt-tab display
New DisplayFusion user... nice work.

So far so good it appears! THanks!
@Aaron: Glad to hear it!
@Paul: Which program didn't have the correct window title in the Alt+tab handler?
Thanks guys, I've confirmed that here as well. We'll add this to our list!

Speaking of Alt+Tab, I am seeing the lag mentioned elsewhere now. But it's not where I'd expect it. I assumed it was when the switcher was appearing, but I'm actually seeing lag after releasing Alt and before the switcher disappears.
Interesting! Is this also happening when you've got a lot of windows open?
@Paul and deanis: The window titles for the browsers should be all fixed up in 5.0 Beta 4.
Thanks!
Sounds good, thanks guys!

so, I've been using this fix for a while after finding it and it seems DisplayFusion sometimes "loses" the alt+tab handle and it reverts back to the Windows alt+tab handler. The workaround is to restart DisplayFusion when this happens, but it's kind of obnoxious. I haven't noticed a pattern for when it happens or what might trigger it yet.
Is there any additional information I can provide to help track this down?

Okay, debug logging is on.

okay, it happened again just now (roughly 3:43 PM local time)
EDIT:
It seems mostly to coincide with me playing a game called "World of Tanks," as it did this time. I can't recall a time where it happened when I was not playing this game, so maybe it's got something to do with that.

Interesting! I'll install World of Tanks and see if I can reproduce it here. I'll keep you posted on what I find.
Thanks!
I had a chance to test World of Tanks today, and I've tried running it both full screen as well as windowed, and it doesn't seem to affect the DisplayFusion Alt-Tab handler at all.
On your system, does it happen immediately after launching World of Tanks, or after a certain period of time? Also, are you running it full screen or windowed, and are you alt-tabbing in and out of the game when it happens?

Hello, I apologize for resurrecting an old thread but this is a frequent issue for me. So much so that I have turned off multi-monitor taskbars in Windows 8 so that I don't have to deal with the issue anymore.
Is there any new information? If needed, I can also provide debugging/log info. In my experience, the alt-tab handler reverts back to Windows 8's handler randomly and frequently. I'd say roughly once per day or perhaps once every 2 days. (This is on my work computer, so a day is constant 8 hour usage.)
Please let me know if there is an update or if you need anything else. Thanks!

@David: Would you be able to do the following to help us troubleshoot?
- Enable debug logging on the Troubleshooting tab (set it to Logging: Important Only) and click Apply
- Restart DisplayFusion
- The next time you notice it's stopped working, please note the time so I'll know where to look in the log file
- Attach the %appdata%\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusion.log file to this topic (can be found by clicking the 'Open Log' button on the Troubleshooting tab)
- Disable debug logging after sending me the log
Thanks!
I just upgraded to Win 8 and I'm having the exact same issue. I've got Win 8 x64 & Display Fusion Pro 5.1.0 (Beta 5) installed.
I've attached my log file following your instructions. The problem persisted even after restart DF - I haven't tried restarting Windows yet...
Edit: I just saw the advanced setting for the DF Alt+Tab handler and that seems to do the trick.

It finally happened again!
This morning around 1128am or 1129am Central Time, US.
Log file is attached. Hope this helps!

Thanks! There are a few lines in the debug log that we're going to review. I'll keep you posted as soon as we have more news.
Interesting! After you send me the next log, would you be able to try exiting DDMM before restarting DisplayFusion to see if it might be interfering?

Just happened again. Log file attached.
Restarting DF always fixes it, regardless of if DDMM is still running or not. Same with restarting DDMM. I just thought it was interesting that both fail at the same time. However, I've noticed in the past 2 days that DDMM fails on its own sometimes while DF continues to work correctly. So who knows.

Thanks! In the log, it looks like your workstation was locked for a while, and then after that, you restarted DisplayFusion twice. When did you notice that the Alt-Tab handler had stopped working? Was it after unlocking the workstation but before the DF restarts?
Ok interesting! Do you know if it worked at all after you unlocked the computer? Or was it broken the first time you tried to use it this morning?
Ok, no worries! We'll check it this log further and hopefully it will point us in the right direction.
@David: We've just released DF 5.1 B11, and it now has "Move Mouse Cursor to Next/Previous Monitor" Functions.
Thanks!

I just finally got around to googling on the alt-tab issue I had noticed with DisplayFusion and Win8 and found this page - awesome fix! Seems to be working well!
One thing I noticed is that the alt-tab handler seems to pick up Dexpot and its plugins as running applications, even though they are only running in the tray (no active windows). I had dexpot running with the plugins for DexControl, DexCube, Slideshow, and Wallpaper Clock - and I was getting alt-tab applications shown for the Dexpot app, Wallpaper Clock, and Slideshow. Turning off the plugins for the clock and slideshow made those two go away. leaving only Dexpot.
Anyway, even with this quirk, this is way better than alt-tabbing only through my primary monitor applications, so I can live with it, but thought I would bring it up here. Maybe a "ignore applications for Alt-Tab" compatibility setting?
This is as of the 5.1.0 (Beta 11) that just dropped. I don't know if the issue was occurring before this build, since I didn't have the alt-tab handler enabled before now. Let me know if you need more information from me.
Thanks and keep up the great work.

Keith,
The alt-tab handler windows seems to appear on the main monitor. I wonder if you could provide a setting that forces the window to appear on the monitor where the mouse is? The other option that may be even nicer would be to open handler windows on each monitor that reflect the current application set that is specific to the monitor; tabbing would do main monitor then onto secondary etc.

Well, I just tried my steps again and I'm not reproducing the issue anymore either. Maybe I needed a good reboot after changing the configuration of either displayfusion or Dexpot. Not sure which, but everything appears to be fine now. FYI, I am using the version of Dexpot that you mentioned - 1.6.9.2285.
Sorry, I should have rebooted once before reporting it.
Thanks for the response,
Keith

Sorry to resurrect this thread yet again, but I just had my alt-tab handler fail on me again for the first time in quite a while. I have attached the log. I am also going to update from beta 12 to beta 13 to see if that fixes it. Hope this helps!

Hi David, we fixed a few Alt+Tab bugs in Beta 13, were you running that version when it failed? If not, can you upgrade to Beta 13 and see if it's any better? Thanks!

No, I was using Beta 12 when it occurred. I have since upgraded to Beta 13 and it hasn't happened again. I'll update again if it does.
However, I've noticed a definite slow-down in alt-tab performance since upgrading to Beta 13.

How about showing the alt-tab window on the active monitor instead of just on the main monitor?
Does the normal Windows alt-tab work if you have that AHK script running? You can test by exiting DisplayFusion first, then trying alt-tab.
Thanks!
