Hi,
my remote app used to work on my android phone, now it keeps timing out.
Problem started on my old phone (android 10) and persists after switching to a new one (android 11). When I open the app, it's unresponsive and I have to wait 15 seconds before I can even click on the menu (Help/about). When I click on connect, initially nothing happens for 10 seconds, then I get a black screen again for 10 seconds, then my phone shows me "DisplayFusion Remote not responding" and lets me choose to "Close the app" or "wait" or "give feedback". If I wait, then the menu loads after another good 10 seconds. When I select a Profile, again, 15 seconds of nothing, then the not responding message shows up, then something starts happening on my PC, the profile gets loaded.

It used to be, on my old phone, that I open the app, immediately click connect, it loads with no delay, I can load my profile within seconds. Something seems to have happened along the way to change that, maybe an update?

Not sure what's up there, but I've been able to reproduce this issue here as well and have added it to our list to fix up. We'll be sure to let you know when we've gotten it all sorted out.

Thanks!

That's actually good to hear, I'm very much looking forward to your findings.
If it helps, I'm guessing this issue must have been going on for at least a year, I just kinda stopped using the app. Now that I purchased a new PC, I wanted to give it another go, but still the issue persists.

The mobile app itself hasn't been updated in a long time, so it could either be an issue related to a DisplayFusion update, or possibly something's changed in Android that's causing an issue. At any rate, we'll be sure to let you know when we get it sorted out.

Thanks!

Huh, that's strange. I haven't been using DF for long, but the Android app was working when I first started and was up until beta 16, I think.

The app still responds fine for me(on Android 12), it just can't connect to the current version of DF. I can see in the DF logs that the app attempted "Functions Listed" but the app just gives a toast that says "Unable to connect".

@JLJTGR: Thanks for letting us know! I can confirm that it's fine with Beta 15 and not Beta 16. I've added that info to the ticket, and that should mean that it will be easy to fix as it won't involve having to ship a new version of the mobile app :D

For me, the following configuration is working how I expect it to:
Android 13, App version 2.1
Windows 11 21H2, DF version 10.0 Beta 17

It's working ok for me when I test here. Are you on DisplayFusion 10.0 Beta 17?

As far as i can tell, I'm on Display Fusion Pro on Steam 9.9, Windows 10 20h2 10.0.19044.0

Thats what it says when I click on "about" in display fusion settings. How do i update? I cant find the option anywhere...

You can update any version (Steam or non-Steam) like this:

  • On the Settings > Options tab, enable the "Check for new Beta (newer, unstable) versions" option
  • Click the Apply button
  • Click the "Check for Updates" button

Thank you!
I have now succesfully updated my PC version to Beta 17, however the process is still painfully slow compared to what it was like 2 years ago. Mind you, it does work now, but not without my android phone giving me the "App not responding" warning after every step (pressing connect in the app, then again when selecting which profile to load).
When I get the not responding prompt, I select "wait", and after some time, the app loads. I presume this is still not normal/wanted behaviour?
Running Android 11.
Best regards

@Papa Quebec70505: I'm not seeing that slowness at all when testing. Tested on both Android and iOS. Does that issue persist even after restarting your phone and your computer?

It does indeed.
I might try switching to my other PC tomorrow to test.

quick update, im kind of busy with work this weekend, so i might only continue the troubleshooting next week, but here are my next steps: try beta 17 on my old PC where i initially noticed the slow behavior after it having worked fine before. try a different mobile device (ipad), even though i had the same issues with my old phone already.
and then lastly,
it just occurred to me that i have switched to a different router sometime in the last couple years, so new wifi connections and everything. maybe the router is the culprit?

anyhow, talk to you next week for an update.
