Hi,

Since the upgrade to 3.0.2 me and my colleague have had a strange problem. When we leave at night we lock our machines, and when we come back in the morning the names of the applications on the extended task bars have all changed. They all end up as the same name (eg Outlook), the icons are correct but the colour depth looks wrong.

I run 3 monitors and he runs 2, same thing happens on both. Next time it happens i can provide a screen shot if you need one

Cheers
Luke

I have heard of a couple other people having this issue, but haven't been able to reproduce it yet. :( What power management settings are you using (standby, sleep, hibernate or nothing)? After this issue occurs next time would you be able to send me:

- A screenshot of your desktop, so I can see exactly how the taskbar is being affected
- The output from the "Troubleshooting" tab in the DisplayFusion Settings window

You can either post those here or you can email them to me at jtackabury@binaryfortress.com. Thanks!

I just now saw this. (see attached) The buttons all have the first button's name and no longer indent (and you can see the icons stacking). Just went to the other room for a bit and came back. It goofed up some more when I brought up the settings window for the troubleshooting info (second attachment). This seems like the same problem I reported in another thread.

- OK, last update. This is exactly what I was seeing at work on my other computer (third attachment)

This was the state of my machine when i've come back to it this morning. All of the app minimised in the display fusion taskbars (on my extra monitors) had the title of 'Royal TS' The icons though stay the same. If i quit display fusion and start it again it kicks back to life, i've tried turning the extend taskbar option of and on again but that doesn't cure it

Where did that "Royal TS" window name come from? I don't see it in the Troubleshooting information.

Do either of you have your computer set to standby/sleep/hibernate? If so, which one is it? I'm going to try my best to clear this up for the 3.0.3 release. Thanks!

The Royal TS app minimizes to the notification area, i might have minimized it as soon as i unlocked my machine

The only power saving that is active is turning on the monitors after 30 mins. Not sure if i mentioned it before but the problem has only started happening since last upgrading, the initial version worked fine

I notice the same thing. I don't standby, hibernate, or lock my machines at night, just step away from the computer and let the monitors power down (10 minute timeout set via power control panel).

I notice that the icons are actually a stack of all the icons running on the machine. (noticed on a monitor with firefox & cmd running - could see the firefox icon behind the cmd icon & vice versa; see df-amarante.png below for another example (this machine has a black taskbar theme)).

Sometimes, usually if some window pops up while I have the DisplayFusion panel up, it'll go really strange and put a big grey button on each taskbar button (see df-amarante.png).

Data from troubleshooting dialog attached for two machines.

Hope this helps

A bit redundant reporting at this point, but it just happened again while I was editing a word document. Had Firefox and an explorer window on the second monitor. Looked over and all the buttons were wack-ado:

I have the same issue even with DisplayFusion 3.0.3.

I run Win XP with a custom Vista skin. At some time (probably after I unlock my machine), the text on my multi-monitor taskbar becomes all the same and the icons seems to be stacked for each taskbar button but the right icon appears on top of the others. See screenshot attached.

Also, When I opened the Settings window of DisplayFusion this morning, a "Ok" button appeared on my multi-monitor taskbar buttons. See second attached screenshot.

I don't have any power saving set. Just my monitors that goes off after 10 minutes. Hard drives are always spinning. I don't use hibernate. I just lock/unlock my machine very often in a day and let it locked at the end of the day.

I copied my Troubleshooting info:

I don't know for the rest of you but it happens mostly the morning after I left my session locked the night before.
I have JKDefrag screensaver installed that defrag my HDDs when my computer is idle. It happens every day when I left the office. Maybe it's a cause of the bug.

Do you have something similar to JKDefrag screensaver that runs just before the bug appears?

Love the product, having the same problem with the icons not matching the labels on the second task bar when I return to the office after locking the computer. The icons are also not quite right as well. Looking forward to a fix for this issue. I can also test a beta if you need another pair of eyes.

Thank you John L. Galt for pointing me to this thread. The issue I reported in thread http://www.binaryfortress.com/Forum/index.php?topic=874 is exactly the same issue.

The issue only appeared after leaving the computer running for 3 days straight, which I had not done before. A fresh restart cleared the issue.

I find it interesting that the DisplayFusion bar buttons contain a snippet of the DisplayFusion About screen...

As I was typing this note I just noticed the same issue on a different computer, also left active for more than 24 hours. I have attached screenshots and troubleshooting information from it.

In this instance the DisplayFusion taskbar buttons contain a portion of the DisplayFusion Troubleshooting screen...

Thank you,

- Brad

This issue used to be much more prevalent that it is now (I used to get it daily, but haven't seen it since release 3). Strange one indeed...

I'll add my error to the pile. I get the jumbled looking taskbar that others get on occasion, but I also get black boxes with just the application icon showing. This happens intermittently after exiting out of the Dream Aquarium screen saver.

I'm pretty confident that I have resolved this issue in the upcoming version 3.0.5. I won't mark this topic as complete until most people here have had a chance to test it after it is released this weekend. :)

In an effort to cleanup the DisplayFusion forum, this topic is being locked and archived because it applies to an older version of DisplayFusion. If you are using the latest version of DisplayFusion and would still like some assistance, please create a new topic and I'll be happy to help you out. Thanks! :)
