Version 9.9 works on Windows 10 Pro, domain joined. Version 10 intermittently fails to Auto Hide the Display Fusion Taskbar. The windows task bar control was disabled. Clicking either Enable or toggling disable enable would hide the task bar again, but it was very aggravating to have to do that multiple times per day. Completely removed all of Version 10, ran ccleaner and removed any remaining registry or folders found, and cleared all temp files. Reinstalled DF V 10 from a clean download and no change. Uninstalled DF V 10 again and installed 9.9 and it's working fine now for about a week.

Please find the log file attached. The issue occured once yesterday but that was before I turned on minimal logging. This is the first one today, and even as I exported, even now, the autohide function isn't working on the DF toolbar.

I've reverted to 9.9 for now. Please advise next T-Shooting steps or fix if found. Until then, I guess I'll avoid 10.x updates. Thanks.
Thanks for sending that over, we have some changes coming in our next beta that might fix this up, so we'll let you know once it's released.
We've released a new beta with some further changes, can you try it out and let me know if the issue persists?

Hi. I've installed Beta 5 and turned on logging. Will let you know if it fails again. Thanks.

I'm sorry to say Beta5 did not help. Please find diagnostic log attached. Please note, I had to actually manually hide the taskbar, otherwise it would not even copy the diagnostic log to the HDD, even though it said it did. Please advise. Will revert to 9.9 till further notice.

Thanks for letting us know, we'll re-open this to take another look at.
Does this only happen after clicking a tray icon, or opening the overflow menu?

My DF taskbar is vertical on my far left screen. Moving the mouse to the left side to unhide works, but it won't retract after I move off the taskbar. It has nothing to do with my clicking a tray icon or overflow menu. That isn't to say something in the system tray isn't active. I don't suspect any of the programs because it worked splendidly through version 9.9
Yeah strange, it seems to think the system tray is open so it doesn't want to hide it. Could you send me over a video of the issue?

I've sent the requested video via email to support@binaryfortress.com Just in case that failed to attach nere is the link https://photos.app.goo.gl/WFFXka6iZJbT9Ncv9
Also find attached the log file. This happened once also yesterday but I failed to properly record. Additional info, at one point the DF taskbar refused to open at all. I toggled taskbars on and off several times and it started working again..

Does it ever happen with the taskbar on the right? If you move the Windows taskbar to the right side, does the right taskbar start having the issue?

I can give that a shot. I may not get to try that for a couple of days. I keep reverting to 9.9.

There are two diagnostic logs attached. The one without 1 at the end happened yesterday and I exported that one fairly soon after the taskbar failed to hide. For that one, I just moved it to the top position on the left monitor.
The one with the 1 at the end was exported a while after I discovered it was hung open again. This time I did as you requested, the Windows taskbar was moved to the left side of the left screen. The DF Taskbar was on the right side of the right screen.
It does not seem to matter where it's located, it just hangs open until I manually ENABLE it again.

Thanks for sending that over, we can't seem to reproduce this here but we've added some more logging to our next beta, so we'll let you know once it's released.
We've released a new beta with some added logging, could you update and send me over a new log?

This Beta is doing better. The Auto hide occasionally fails remaining open, but I can now click again on the the open task bar and when I move off it auto hides. That's a huge improvement over toggling it with several clicks more. Not perfect yet, but I'm going to see how it goes over this weekend. After I've gathered enough experience with it I'll upload the log file. Thanks!

10.1 Beta 7 continues to be an improvement so far over 3 days or so. It's merely a minor annoyance now that I can click the hung open task bar then move the mouse cursor away and it auto-hides. Enough so that I plan to leave this Beta 7 installed instead of reverting to 9.9. Of course I'd rather see it working perfectly but whatever adjustment was made in this Beta 7 helped a bunch. Thanks!

Glad to hear! We were able to reproduce a similar auto hide issue here on Beta 7 now as well, it might be the same root cause. We'll let you know once we get it fixed up to see if it fixes your issue as well.
We've released a new beta that should fix this up, please let me know if you run into any issues after updating.
Thanks!

DF 10.1 Beta 8 improves the situation again over Beta 7, but the taskbar fails to retract maybe a little less often than with Beta 7. It is further improved by one step. With Beta 7, I had to click the taskbar then move the mouse away for the taskbar to retract. With Beta 8, I can just wave the mouse cursor over the task bar and move it off and it retracts. So I'm leaving Beta 8 installed. Thanks for the continued improvement!

Could you send me an updated video of the issue?

Video attached per your request. I first show the left screen with DF Taskbar hung open. I circle the mouse cursor, then move to the right side. I minimize notepad, move to the right edge to show that task bar opens and closes, and then I go back to the left screen with the still hung open DF taskbar. I then only move the mouse over the task bar and without clicking move away and it closes. The video is just over 50mb, so I've split it, you need all three parts in the same folder and run the .exe to recombine and play the video.

If you disable taskbar previews, does the issue still happen?

Taskbar, Previews disabled, show tooltip on hover < Works better than the other previews disabled option
Taskbar, Previews disabled, show group list on hover < Makes it instantly worse, the item that previews hangs
Taskbar, Windows moder style < occasionally hangs this is what it has been set to
Taskbar, Windows classic style < Same as above but I haven't spent any time with it
I'll leave it at Previews disabled, show tooltip on hover for a while to see how that goes.

It definitely failed with previews disabled, but in order to allow it to retract the taskbar I had to click on it, then move the mouse away. So I'm going back to The default using modern Windows with preview, since that works without my having to click. I can just float the mouse over the taskbar and move away and it will close.

04:29 PM 08/31/2023 EST DF AutoHide Tasbar Hung just now, can't click and move off, can't wave and move off. Taskbar set to Previews disabled, show tooltip on hover. Had to select Autohide task bar and move off and then it closed. Logfile requested is attached and timestamp above is when it happened.

08:42 AM 09/01/2023 DF Taskbar Hangs again, this time with taskbar preview disabled, show groups. Selecting DF settings caused the taskbar to autohide, but waving the mouse over to it didn't close it. I'm set back to modern preview because it works the best of the options.

Will do. I wanted to mention that 10.1.1 had such high CPU I just went back to 9.9 for a while. I just installed this latest Beta and turned logging on. Will let you know.

Upgrading to latest Beta didn't resolve. It's about the same as the beta just before 10.1.1 was. I did all the same checks as you've seen in the videos sent before. If I simply wave the mouse over the taskbar it retracts. CPU usage issue seems normal to me, much better than 10.1.1. One more thing to mention, since uninstalling and reinstalling DF repeatedly, I now have had to Disable DF Alt+Tab controls. They went wonky, offering strange arrangements instead of most recently used first (left to right). Disabling the DF Alt+Tab controls completely eliminated the issue.

We're planning to re-work the auto hide code for v11, so it might fix this up, it's hard for us to fix without being able to reproduce it locally. We're aware of an issue with some alt tab ordering as well, so we have that on our list to look into.
Thanks!
