Hi,

while the auto-hide animation on the primary taskbar is very fluent and smooth, it is very slow on Display Fusion's taskbars. I am currently running the Pro version 6.1.2 on Windows 8.1 64 Bit and I did not use that feature until now.

Is there a way to make the animation more fluent?

I've just tested it out here, and it seems to be ok on my machine. Could you attach a copy of your DisplayFusion Troubleshooting info? Also, if you're able to attach a video capture of the auto-hide animation on your machine so that I can compare it, that would be great :)

Here are the steps for the Troubleshooting info:
  • Open the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the Copy to Clipboard button
  • Open Notepad, paste the text, and save the file
  • Reply with the text file attached

Thanks!

Here are both the debug log and a video capture of the slow animation..

Ok, thanks! Mine definitely doesn't look like that. Is the CPU utilization high on your machine when it's animating?

I checked it with Process Explorer and both the CPU and the GPU aren't on full load.
Sometimes the animation is not only slow, it is also flickering a lot. So the whole display area where the taskbar is going to appear turns white for a few frames before the stuttering animation finishes.

The animation speed does not depend on the transparency settings in Display Fusion or StartIsBack+ but it depends on the number of items shown on them. When I enable the "All taskbars show all windows" mode the animation turns into a two frames slide-show.

Ok, strange! I still can't reproduce this here, even with a taskbar full of buttons. I will add this to our list though, and we'll see if there's anything we can do to improve the performance of the auto-hide animation :)

I'll keep you posted when we have more news!

Thanks!

Almost forgot, in the meantime, you can use the "Taskbar: Auto-hide animation" option in the Settings > Advanced Settings window to disable the animation, so that it will at least open and close immediately for you :)

Finally DisplayFusion Pro 7.2.0 Beta 3 has fixed this issue. The animation is now as fluent as the main taskbar's animation. :)

Awesome! We didn't change anything specific to the taskbar auto-hide, but we did fix a few general performance issues. Glad to hear it's all good now!
