Hey all!
For the past few releases, I've been seeing the DF taskbar buttons freeze after it's been running for several hours. That is, you close a window on the 2nd Monitor that has the DF taskbar but the button remains and is unclickable. The DF taskbar will gradually fill up with these. This is on both my work machine (DELL/NVIDIA) and home (AMD/ATI). After this, the background of the taskbar starts taking on odd colors as well (probably the color of windows that were drug over it...)

Otherwise, this rocks!

Anyone else seeing this?

Very strange... if you go into the Settings window, then click "Ok" it should refresh the taskbars. Does this fix it? Can you turn on the "Debug logging" option on the troubleshooting tab and post the log file here (as an attachment preferably) the next time it happens? I'd like to take a look through it and see if there are any errors being handled silently.

Update: The log will be stored in your "My Pictures\DisplayFusion" folder. I'm going to add an "Open log folder" button in Beta 14 to make finding it easier.

I'll look into this shortly when I get home. At the moment, I right-clicked the DF bar to shut it down, and I am just getting an hour-glass, and the icon in the sys tray is unresponsive...

more as it happens... :-)

Do you have the debug logging enabled? I would love to see what is happening while it is locked up.

Ok, I now have debug logging enabled and will have some info for you. This button freeze issue happens on my work and home machine at least once a day, so I should have some debug info by tomorrow...

Ok, it's tomorrow. :-) Since I'm seeing this problem both at home and at work, I'm looking at any programs I use in both places, to see if there might be a conflict there. NotePad++ is one I'm looking at.... more as it happens...

I use Notepad++ at home at work as well and I've never had the issue you are describing. If the issue happens again can you post the debug log so I can take a look at it?

Thanks!

Have to agree with Jon - I too use Notepad++ - however, there are a bunch of plugins for npp as well - Ben, you using any additional plugins?

Just a thought....
I am I.

I have added a ton more debug logging to Beta 14. If you have any repeatable issues, just open the Settings window and goto the Troubleshooting tab. From there you can enable "debug logging". It will log important things and errors to the debug log which you can send to me after something unexpected happens (like the button freezes). I can look through the look and try to piece together what happened.

I should add to the end of this post that after (one by one) closing all apps so there were no taskbar buttons, I was getting "Error @ GetButton: No333" in the log file each time XP came back from screen saver mode. So, apparently no issues with particular programs were causing the frozen taskbar buttons I was seeing...

On to beta 14!

I'm marking this thread 'Complete' and we'll track this issue in the new thread regarding button freezing:
