With v9.7.1 Beta7, DF taskbars crash when Win+left is pressed.
Some of the DF processes remain running but taskbars disappear and DF has to be restarted to get them back.
Not in 100% of the cases but more often than not.
Win+right doesn't seem to be affected.
This never happens with Beta6 (confirmed by reverting back to that version).

Edit: Side note, I'm using this key combo to invoke the "move window to previous monitor" function, but the crash only happens in this direction (move to next monitor is working), and only with hotkey (shift+middleclick is also working).

Interesting! Would you be able to send over a debug log for this?

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, set the logging to "L1: Logging Minimal" and click Apply
  • In the Settings > Advanced Settings, set "Troubleshooting: Logging: Disable Log Buffering" to disabled
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • If it crashes again, send us the DisplayFusion.log and DebugInfo.html files found in %localappdata%\DisplayFusion

Thanks!

Attached a log, for the first time now it happened with the other direction (move to next monitor).

Some other remarks:
- not application dependent - happened with multiple different programs
- not window size dependent - happened with maximized/unmaximized window
- not display/monitor/displaynumber dependent - happens with every display

I just realized that I was supposed to disable log buffering, but I think it should be alright because after enabling logging I haven't done anything else but reproducing the issue, I believe I've even restarted the PC.
But if the log is not good/enough or you want some other tests just let me know.

I'm also getting this. Very persistent as well.

We've found the cause of this issue and it will be fixed in the next beta, which we're planning to release tomorrow :)

Thanks!

Thanks for the fix, it's not quite right though.
Now it crashes for middleclick and shift+middleclick, but at least it's not intermittent, crashes every time.
Didn't bother much to test the key combos.

Edit: After a PC restart, it's back to intermittent so I decided to not fallback and keep testing. Will report back when I get a clue about the current situation.

Thanks for the update! I've had it crash once since Beta 8 as well but can't seem to force it to happen. We've re-opened the ticket and we'll keep testing to get it sorted out for Beta 9 :)

Same here, seems after PC restart it needed just one more crash and restart, didn't happen since then.

I've not seen the issue since B8.

Hello,

This issue should be fixed up in the latest beta, available here: https://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta. Please let me know if you still run into any trouble after updating.

Thanks!

Indeed it seems to have been fixed, I didn't have any new occurrences with Beta9 since its release.
Thanks!
