I updated to the latest beta this morning but its causing a black screen and nothing will display. I can bring up task manager and I have disabled DF for now until this is fixed.

Could you export the following registry key and attach it?

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Binary Fortress Software\DisplayFusion

Thanks! If you launch DisplayFusion, does the display immediately go black?

no, it works as expected, so it's something at boot time.

Interesting! Could you enable debug logging, then reboot and send me the log?

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks! So with logging enabled, it didn't auto-start with Windows? Did the screen go black when you manually started it?

If not, can you try disabling logging and rebooting again to see if you get the black screen issue?

Thanks just got it. Curious as to why recent versions require a system restart though.

We're not completely sure here, but installing the new 9.4 betas seems to be fine now. I suspect it was Windows Defender locking files during the installation of previous versions because nothing has changed in our installer.

Sorry for the confusion, Jon typo'd the version number. We just posted 9.2.4 final on Friday, did you run into this issue again when updating?
