Hi,

I am looking at buying a phillips BDM4065UC 4k monitor but would like the option of splitting it into 4 seperate 1080p screens using DisplayFusion.. is this possible?

Thanks,
Craig

DisplayFusion can indeed split it into four separate 1920x1080 sections, each with their own taskbar, wallpaper, and screen saver. You can do this in the Monitor Configuration > Splits and Padding window.

The only gotcha is that DisplayFusion can't constrain full screen windows (games, videos, Power Point presentations, etc) to a specific split. They will always output to the full display.

The other gotcha is that there are some issues with splitting and DPI scaling levels higher than 100%. We're working on those as well :)

Hi Keith,

Thanks for your reply... is the full screen windows being constrained to each split something your working on?

Cheers,
Craig

Not at the moment, as it's not technically possible :(

If we're able to find a way to do it in the future though, I'll definitely let you know.

Thanks!

I am using the Trial version with my 4k Monitor split into 4 screens, and so far it is working great. There are only a few programs that do not follow the splits (Mainly MMC.exe management consoles)

Awesome, glad to hear it! The MMC issue is a known one, so I've added your info to the open ticket :)

Thanks!

Hi, I'm trying to use the same features, but theres something I want to know...
Can we make it a certain app/window full-screen on demand without turning off the split-screen settings? (on-the-go)

Yep! Just hold Shift when maximizing the application :)

I'm not sure that I fully understand how DF handles 4 1920x1080 screens on one 4k monitor. Normally when a window (in Windows) is reduced from full screen the content visible in the window is reduced, in other words the content is not scaled along with the window being reduced.

Does DF scale the content as well as the window? I know that Windows allows the adjustment of the dpi but I regularly use some specialised software that scales very badly when the default dpi is changed.

Your guidance would be appreciated.

DisplayFusion can't scale the content no. It will resize the window to 1920x1080 when it fits it to the split.

Any chance of progress on full screening on virtual monitors. Alternately, is there any way to accomplish the following: I'd like to full screen a flash video player in each of the four virtual monitors so that I can have a football game from watchespn.com full screened in each of the four virtual monitors. Basically I just want a way to watch four 1080p "full-screen" videos at the same time on a 4k screen without any of the browser chrome (tabs, etc.) showing.

We haven't made much progress on that yet, sorry :(

Is there some sort of adapter required or second video card in order to boost the video output of a laptop? My laptop has hdmi out, but it appears to only output 1080 / 4 splits rather than 4 x 1080 splits on one 4k monitor.

If the laptop's HDMI out only allows for 1080, you might need a USB > DisplayPort adapter, like this one: https://plugable.com/products/usb3-6950-dp/

Note that some USB > DisplayPort adapters support 4K resolution but only at 30Hz, which isn't great. This one does 4K at 60Hz.

There are some extensions for chrome that remove most of the address bar and those kinds of things. Might be something to get you by until they figure something out.
