I know this is a very weird question.

I bought display fusion on steam last year, it suits my computer at home very well ( with steam of course)
But today I'm trying to use "upgrade to pro" with my computer in the company, it turns out that steam pro edition requires steam.
But I just can't install steam on my working computer in the office....
What should I do to solve this problem?

We can set you up. Please send us an email at support@displayfusion.com with a copy of your Steam license key (from the Settings > License Key tab).

Thanks!

The purchase page states
Steam does not need to be running or logged in to use DisplayFusion after it's been installed
. Perhaps something changed, but for me Steam is required to run DF, in fact I can't even exit Steam client if DF is running.
Please update the information on purchase page.

It only needs to be running for the first 10 minutes, to allow enough "play time" to accumulate so that you can write a review if you like :)

If you need to restart Steam or launch another game within that first 10 minutes, just kill the "DisplayFusionLauncher.exe" process in Task Manager.

Is that 10 minutes per session or total? Cause it's a big difference.. and it should be mentioned on purchase page.

Well, I can't exit Steam, it gives me this error.

The only way I could exit it one time was when I updated DF from within DF...Once I launched Steam again, I'm not able exit anymore.

[EDIT]
The 10 minute limit seems to be per steam session, not total...after about 10 minutes I was able exit Steam.
This definitely needs to be warned about at the purchase page!

Ok, I talked with our devs, and this is how it works:
  • After a fresh install of DF from Steam, the DisplayFusionLauncher.exe process will stay running until it's accumulated 10 minutes of runtime. This is regardless of the actual Steam play time, because we can't check that.
  • After that, DisplayFusionLauncher.exe will only launch if you Launch DF from Steam. If it's launched with Windows startup, or via the Start menu, the launcher doesn't run.
  • If you do launch DF from Steam, DisplayFusionLauncher.exe will only stay running for about 60 seconds.
  • You can kill DisplayFusionLauncher.exe at any time without hurting anything, in case you need to exit Steam quickly.

I'll look into adding these details to the Steam Store page as well. Please let me know if you have any further questions :)

Thanks!

Thank you. This explains a lot.

I wonder though, why the launcher stays in memory for so long? Why can't DP main process send message to it "successfully launched, you may go away now". This would fix any misunderstanding with Steam version.
