I'm running Version 10 Beta 15 as well as version 2022.1 of IntelliJ. I am having an issue where I can't close an IntelliJ window using the X in the upper right. It seems to be behaving exactly like the restore button. See attached video. The only way I can close the window is to right click on the icon in the Task Bar and then click on Close window. I only have this problem with IntelliJ windows.
This works fine if I close DisplayFusion

Hi Peter,

Strange! Could you send me over a debug log? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks!

I am also having this issue. I downgraded to Display Fusion Pro 9.8 to see if that would help. It did not. I did notice that if I hold down the shift key while clicking on the "X" then the close fuction works correctly. If I move it to the monitor that is not split, it works correctly.

I went ahead and turned on logging. In the hopes that this would help you with troubleshooting.

16:37 - Clicked on close (X) and it performed "maximize"
16:38 - Clicked on close (X) and it performed "Maximize"
16:39 - Held down SHIFT While clicking on close (X) and I got the exit confirmation screen.

I hope this helps!

Here is my debug file. Hit X a few times at 1:52.
And thanks to the previous user about the hint to do a Shift-click to close

What build version of IntelliJ are you guys running? You can find it in the Help > About section in IntelliJ.

Thanks!

Ok perfect, I'm on the same version as well. Could you send me over a backup of your DisplayFusion settings? You can grab them in the DisplayFusion Settings window > Options > Export Settings.

Thanks!

Thanks for sending that over. If you disable your monitor splits, and restart that window, does this issue persist?

Thanks!

What is the best way to display the splits but be able to get them back quickly?

Hi Peter,

You can save two monitor profiles, one with the splits and one without, and just load them to swap between them. This guide here explains it more in depth: https://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/working-with-displayfusion-monitor-profiles/?ID=5f41fdbd-bb4f-4052-8de2-a34e47468ec0#first

Thanks!

I don't know if it is relevant, but when I have IntelliJ running on the monitor which has no splits, everything works correctly.

Interesting yeah, it seems to be related to monitor splitting. I still can't seem to reproduce this on my end, but I've added it to our list to look into. If we have anything further on this going forward we'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks!

We had a look at this and it's something that needed to be fixed on the Jetbrains end of things. Looks like they have it fixed up in 2022.3 EAP 1: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-298987

This did not get fixed with IntelliJ 2022.3. In fact, I just got a new computer and after re-installing all my software, the problem still occurs. Running DisplayFusion 10 Beta 21 and IntelliJ 2022.3.2.
I can send a video if you want to see it

Ah yep, I'm still able to reproduce this so I've re-opened it up for us to look into.
