Hi; I recently used the following custom scripted function to allow muting/unmuting specific windows by using a titlebar button:

https://www.displayfusion.com/ScriptedFunctions/View/?ID=304092ef-18d8-4eca-9d18-b9ab8a5499ee

However, this sometimes fails for the TickTick app for Windows, and always fails for Ferdium:

https://github.com/ferdium/ferdium-app

However, once TickTick makes some noise by e.g. having checked off a task, it becomes possible to mute using the BFS functions as normal. The mute function doesn't seem to work at all for Ferdium. Since I'd like to sometimes mute windows before they start making noise it'd be nice if there was a clear way to work around this - let me know if you have any issues reproducing the issue. Thanks!

For TickTick, Windows has to register the app as playing sound first before you can control it's volume with the mixer, this applies to API calls as well. There isn't much we can do there unfortunately.

Is Ferdium a free app I can test out on my end? If so could you send me over a download link?

Makes sense for TickTick; meanwhile Ferdium is definitely playing back sounds via the Discord and Slack services but still doesn't appear to be mutable.

Thanks for sending that over, we should have this fixed up in our next beta so we'll let you know once it's released.

Thanks!

We've got a test build of DisplayFusion 11 Beta 1 that we're not quite ready to release to everyone through the auto-updater, but thought you might like to try out as it may resolve the issue you reported. This beta has some very big behind the scenes changes that will improve performance, speed up startup times, re-organizes the main settings window, and adds real time settings changes. We've done a lot of internal testing, but be prepared for a few bugs. We'll collect feedback over the holidays and review it all in January.

Please take a backup of your settings (Settings Options Export) before updating and store them outside of the default folder. If you need to roll back to 10.1.2, you can download it at https://www.displayfusion.com/Download/ and install it over top of the beta.

If you'd like to give it a try, you can download it here: https://www.binaryfortress.com/Data/Download/?Package=displayfusion&v11-test=1
