Hello,

Just purchased DF pro personal license and I just noticed that the setting Window Management > Center child windows over the parent window doesn't work for chrome or Firefox. For chrome it is on the side of the monitor and for Firefox it always puts the child window on my primary screen even though Firefox isn't on my primary screen.

Other than this small annoyance I'm loving the software.

DF options under Window Management

Checked - Center child windows over the parent window
Unchecked - Move only modal windows (windows that block input)
Checked - Move child windows that are on the same monitor as the parent window

Windows Version
Edition Windows 10 Enterprise
Version 1709
OS Build 16299.492

Chrome Version
Version 67.0.3396.99 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Firefox Version
Quantum
61.0.1 (76-bit)

Update

Just tested with Microsoft Outlook and it is not working there either. Using Office 365 it puts new email windows and meeting windows on my primary monitor instead of where outlook is at on my secondary monitor.

Update #2
@Jon Tackabury (BFS) I just updated to windows 10 version 1803 and the center child windows appears to be working for chrome. Chrome is still on the same version.

Thank you

It's probably because of that.

@B3nd3r: Interesting, is it working for other apps now as well? Outlook might always be somewhat broken because it re-uses window handles when opening emails/meeting notifications, so they don't always generate a "new window" notification that we can hook.

Can you try with a few other apps, like Notepad (try with the Save As window in Notepad) etc?

@Keith Lammers (BFS)

I have tried it with sublime text and other applications and the child windows do not center on screen. I have attached a screenshot as well.

Thanks! I've just tested with Sublime Text as well, and it appears that the Save As window doesn't throw a window created message when it opens, so DisplayFusion can't detect it and move it :(

What are the other applications that aren't working? I'll test them out here as well.

If I open Windows Task Scheduler on the primary monitor, right click on a scheduled task, then click on "Properties", the child window opens on the secondary monitor.

In iSpy 64 v7.1.2.0, a security camera application, when I clicked on a recorded video in the interface on the primary monitor the playback window would open on the secondary monitor. I fixed that by creating a window management trigger/action for those windows.

Info from DisplayFusion troubleshooter attached.

ps

I hope it's OK that I'm piggybacking on this thread and not opening another. If that's not OK, let me know.

Sorry to intrude Keith

I tested it with DF monitor setting... the dialog " revert or keep" open on the other monitor.
You already have my setups :-)

If you guys create a Trigger rule that uses *.* as the Process Filename, and uses the "Centre Window on Monitor" action, does that work on all windows, including the child windows?

This has no effect on the Task properties window, it still opens on the secondary monitor.

UPDATE: After updating Windows 10 to build 17134.191, the above trigger action now works on the Task properties window, opening it on the main monitor and then centering it. Without the trigger, the child window opens on the main monitor, but not centered. Other than updating windows, I have made no other changes to the pc.

Can you try adding a "Move Window to Current Monitor" action to that Trigger rule as well?

It seems this is a problem with our Microsoft WPF app as well - child windows are centered across the entire monitor and not the artifical monitor.

I tried both the settings and the trigger with no luck.

@vodka_mann: Is this an app that I could test with here?
