Long time Display Fusion user who switched to Windows 8 on my production machine a couple of weeks ago. I actually like the icon that Display Fusion uses for the start button better than any other I've used before, just wish it took you into a start menu.

I asked our Microsoft Rep & she recommended Classic Shell, which I was happy to find out, is supported by Display Fusion. Only thing is when I exited Display Fusion & restarted it, it took me back to the Classic Shell default icon on all 3 monitors.

In order to change the icon back to your default icon (the white start button) it looks like I'd have to actually have that icon somewhere. Was hoping that you guys could help, or possibly maybe knew of an easier way to change it back to yours.

Might be more of a question for the folks at Classic Shell but I thought that I'd start here, since it's actually the Display Fusion icon I'm hoping to use, I thought that I'd start here first.

Thanks,

We grab our Start button from the Windows 8 resource files, but when you have Classic Shell installed, the DF taskbar will use the Classic Shell button instead (after the taskbar restarts).

You can use one of the attached buttons which are very similar to the one we use in Classic Shell. Just put it in the Custom Button field on the Start Button tab in the Classic Shell settings, then restart DisplayFusion.

Make sure you download the file (right-click the link, then choose Save link as), instead of viewing the image in the browser and saving it from there.

I grabbed those images from here: http://zhker.deviantart.com/art/Windows-8-logo-for-Classic-Start-Menu-344362819

Hope that helps!

Thanks Keith.

Eventually (after lots & lots, lol, of searching through my file seek search for .png files), I figured out that the icon you guys were using was actually just the stock one for Windows 8. Wasn't all for naught though, I found out more than I ever wanted to know about how the Start Orb actually works.

I wound up finding another one that's real similar to the stock one, it just turns blue when you highlight over it. I'll post it below in case anybody else wants to use it.
