Hi,

I have issuesince start of use of Display Fusion who is little bit annoying.

I use Display Fusion 9.3 and Classic Start Menu 4.3.1.

Problem is simple: when open start menu (even Click or Win Button) on second and third screen (not primary so ^^) only the first time work and after that when try to open it on non-primary screen it blink a half-second and disappear and no way to make it appear or work unless I use on primary screen. It only work on primary screen so only this one is "usable".

Please help :)
Cordially.

I've just done a quick test with DisplayFusion 9.3 and Classic Start 4.3.1 on a system with 4 monitors and everything is working correctly. Could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info so that we can test with the same monitor layout as yours?

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Are you using Classic Shell or Classic Start, the fork of Classic Shell?

I'm having the same issue, and have for a couple of releases now. For me, this is ONLY an issue when I have a program running in "full screen" mode on the primary monitor, such as a game or YouTube video playing.

Using Classic Start Menu version 4.3.1 (newest release on their website). If you would like, I can also export a log like you asked the OP for.

I still can't seem to reproduce this here, even with a full screen video running on the Primary monitor. Could you guys attach a backup of your DisplayFusion Settings (Settings > Options > Export) as well as a backup of your Classic Shell Settings?

Thanks!

Just want to add that I'm also using DisplayFusion 9.3 and Classic Shell 4.3.1, with no problems what so ever, so it must be a unique bug.

Still no luck reproducing the issue here with your DisplayFusion and Classic Shell settings :(

Could you guys attach full debug logs for this issue?

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L2: Log Detailed" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks!

Hi, it take me a seconds to make it so don't know if that sufficient but it happen at 21h44.

For you'r information I noticed that if display fusion window is open, issue never happen, but if I reduce it to bottom right bar, it happen each time on second/third monitor.

And for me no need to have anything in fullsreen

Thanks! From the log it looks like DisplayFusion is failing to get the Start menu handle sometimes. Could you restart DisplayFusion, open the Start menu once, then attach a new copy of the log? I'd like to see if it looks any different after just the first attempt to open it.

Ok, that's the same behaviour I'm seeing here as well. If memory serves me correctly, we tried to fix the blink a long time ago and it wasn't possible to do.

Will it go back to not opening correctly again after some time?

Ok no worries, just checking to make sure! I've been testing with Classic Start Menu on a test machine and haven't had any issues, but I normally run Start10 on my main machine. I'll try switching to Classic Shell on my main machine to see if I can get this to happen after a while as well.

Also looks like since Classic Shell is no longer being developed, it will stop working with the next release of Windows 10 :(

Sorry, I lost track of this thread a while ago. So basically, it's boiling down to an issue with the way DisplayFusion is working with Classic Shell, but since Classic Shell is being discontinued, it's not really worth the (probably immense) trouble to fix DisplayFusion to play nicely with CS?

Kind of a shame Classic Shell is being shut down, I really like the looks and function of it. :-(

Yeah, it's not ideal for sure. There is a Classic Shell fork called "Open-Shell" now, and we've just added support for that in DisplayFusion 9.4 Beta 2. It has the same bugs as Classic Shell obviously, but if they continue to develop it, and since it's now fully open source, we might be able to work with them to fix some of them up :)
