I am running to a problem where clicking on the task bar icon sometimes doesn't open the window and put it on top of the others.

Is this because of DisplayFusion, Windows 10, or a combination of both? Is this a known bug?

Are any of your taskbars on the side instead of the bottom?

Yes, the taskbar for one of my screens is on the side and I am having a hard time opening them. I click multiple times and the windows doesn't come to the front. Also I have had other problems where I drag the window to another screen and it goes behind other existing windows!

This is a Windows 10 bug caused by any program that sets windows as "topmost," as we have to do for certain features like our taskbars and Titlebar Buttons. We're at the mercy of Microsoft fixing the underlying issue, but there are a couple of workarounds at the moment. Either one should resolve the issue:

  • Set all taskbars to the bottom position
  • Enable the Advanced Setting shown in the attached screenshot and restart DisplayFusion

Thanks!

Ok, we think we may have actually gotten this issue resolved in the latest beta version. Could you try disabling the Advanced Settings, updating to 9.0 Beta 4, and then let me know how it works out?

Thanks!
