I have searched and searched the discussion, and nowhere have I found how to move my Desktop Icon profiles to a new PC. I have already done the "Restore Settings" and I assume since they didn't show the Desktop Icon Profiles are not part of this restore (why not?). So is this a registry entry item that I can move? Or are these profiles burried somewhere in the directory structure?

Hello,

The desktop icons should be contained in the backup file. Could you send it over so we could take a look at it?

Thanks!

Hello,

Thanks for sending that over, it looks like it's working for me, I can see 2 desktop icon profiles listed. Are you restarting Display Fusion after restoring the backup?

Thanks!

Yes I did multiple times. I even upgraded to the latest version. Still get the same results. It will allow me to save off new profiles, so I know it can access the registry but will not allow me to restore them.:|

Hello,

Are you trying to restore the backup to a different computer, or a different user profile on the same computer?

Thanks!

Also not sure if it makes a difference, but I am trying to do this restore from a remote desktop as I am not able to go to my office and directly log-into my PC at this time.

Hello,

If you exit Display Fusion, double click the backup file, choose "Yes" to import, and then launch Display Fusion, does it work?

Thanks!

Yes, it worked when I loaded it directly as a registry entry (double click on the "reg" file). So the issue must be when I try and load this from the Settings GUI.

Hello,

Interesting, I've added this on to our list to look into, so if we have any further information on it, we'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks!

Hello,

Thanks for sending that over. Is it still the Icon Profiles that aren't getting loaded consistently? Everything else loads fine?

Thanks!

Hello,

Could you try to create some custom settings (a window position profile, desktop icon profile, a trigger, etc.) on the computer that is having troubles loading the backup, export those settings through DisplayFusion, and try to import them on your original computer?

Let me know what does/doesn't get loaded.

Thanks!

This issue was found several months ago. I no longer have access to the original computer. After 60 days my company reimages them and as needed reassigns them.

Hello,

Interesting, does your company manage settings on your computer as well?

Thanks!
