This applies to Windows 10 x64 Build 9926 with DisplayFusion 7.1 installed, 2 monitors (2-1 main)

When clicking on the Start icon on the DF taskbar of monitor 2, the Start Menu opens on the main monitor 1.

Updated to Windows 10 build 10240 today. The current beta version (7.2 Beta 8 ) of DisplayFusion works pretty well. The only problem is that the Windows 10 start menu always opens on my primary monitor even if the start button on my secondary monitor is clicked.

@Winio: We're currently working on this issue and should hopefully have it fixed up by the final release of 7.2 :)

Thanks!

We've just released a new DisplayFusion beta version (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/) and this issue should be all fixed up. Note that the Start menu is apparently now a Universal app, which can't be hooked by Win32 apps, so it has to open on the Primary monitor first, before we can move it to the DF taskbar. Please let us know if you run into any trouble after updating.

Thanks!

DF V7.2.10, Windows 10 x64 Build 10240, 3 monitors (3-1-2) and monitor 1 is a Dell touch screen.

This issue is not working with Beta 10. The Start Screen always opens on the main monitor and never moves to the other monitors.

I have attached a detail log of this issue occurring. (Time around 2:44 a.m., monitor 2 tried and then monitor 3)

Note: My task bars are located as:

Monitor 1- Vertical right
Monitor 2- Bottom
Monitor 3- Vertical left

Ah, weird! It was working fine in our internal test builds, but seems to be broken in the released build. We'll have another look :)

Hi, I didn't want to open another thread.

I am having similar issues with latest version of display fusion 7.2 on windows 10 64bit.

When I click on start button the start menu will open fine on main monitor, but when I click on start button on the display fusion taskbar, the start menu will open on my main monitor then jump to the second monitor I'm trying to open it on.

Sometimes it will do that and get stuck on the display fusion taskbar, even when I'm clicking the start menu icon on my main monitor.

Windows 10 has been all fun and games so far:)

Yeah, unfortunately we can't hook the Start menu, because it's actually a Universal app, not a Win32 app like it used to be in Windows 7. What that means is, we have to wait for the Start menu to be visible, then poll to find it, then we can move it. It's definitely not ideal, but it's the best we could do with it :(

It definitely shouldn't be jumping over to the second monitor if you're clicking the button on the Primary taskbar though. Can you reproduce this reliably? If so, can you tell me the steps?

Thanks for reply and explanation Keith.

I ended up installing classic shell, as that works fine with display fusion.

Hello, I see that this has apparently been fixed but not for me. When I press the windows button on my second monitor it always opens on my primary monitor and stays there. I'm on 7.3 Beta 1 and using Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. It wasn't working in 7.2 for me either. It doesn't work neither in full screen start menu or the normal one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Me either, I hope they release a fix soon. It's pretty annoying.

@Kingtowers and Ferran: Can you guys please attach a copy of your troubleshooting info?
  • Open the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the Copy to Clipboard button
  • Open Notepad, paste the text, and save the file
  • Reply with the text file attached

Thanks!

Having the same problem, also the copy to clipboard function in the troubleshooting window came back with this:

Failed to copy your troubleshooting information.
Requested Clipboard operation did not succeed.

So I did it manually.

@Mobeeuz: Everything looks ok in the troubleshooting info. Could you attach a debug log?
  • Update to the latest 7.3 Beta
  • On the Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal"
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Send us the DisplayFusion.log and DebugInfo.html files (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

DF V7.3 Beta 3 on Windows 10 x64 Professional.

Sure do like the way the Start Menu now opens directly on the monitor that the user has activated it from via the Start icon...no jumping from the primary monitor to the selected monitor.

Very nice enhancement within Beta 3 for Windows 10 8)

Unfortunately this just broke with v7.3 Beta 3 (I installed it ~20 minutes ago). Now my Windows 10 Start menu always opens up on the left of three monitors (where the Windows primary taskbar is). Up until this update it would open up there briefly, then switch to the correct taskbar's monitor (where it was clicked to open).

Back to the drawing board guys..

Same issue here with 7.3 Beta 3.

Start menu is stuck opening only at the left position on my secondary monitor.

I am also using Start10 with modern style (non windows 10 default start menu): on my main monitor I have the correct start menu style, thought on my secondary monitor i have the default windows 10 menu.

Is it possible to download the 7.3 Beta 2 back?

Thanks.
