Hello Keith,
I updated to the Win8.1 Pro Preview and have the latest beta of DF (beta9). Although Displayfusion is in the AutoStart folder I have to manually start it everytime on a reboot. Can you look into this?

Thanks
Alan

Seems to be auto-starting just fine on my system with the Windows 8.1 Preview. If you disable the Start with Windows option, apply the settings, then enable it and apply again, and reboot, does it still not work?

I tried everything possible Keith! It shows up in the auto-start folder but dosnt start BUT neither does any of my other auto starts!
So, I fixed it my way. That is to say thank god for image backups! Windows 8.1 will not see daylight on my machine again - hahaha.
Thanks for your help.

Ah ok, definitely sounds like there was something weird going on with your 8.1 installation :)

Do you run Explorer as the shell? I am running LiteStep as the shell (www.litestep.info) and for some reason it DF does not autorun anymore.

My first thought was that LiteStep is a 32-bit application but seeing as my Realtek Sound Manager which is 64-bit autorun fine I suppose this is not the issue.

I decided to try LiteStep's 64-bit version and the same thing happens here. DF does not autorun.

@Anton: Which version of Windows are you running? I'll test this out here :)

As an update only,
updated everything on my machine then updated to Win 8.1 and Display Fusion worked well but Win 8.1 gave me other problems so again I reverted back to Windows 8. Going to stick with that for now, messing about with 8.1 is over for now.

Sorry for the extremely late reply... I stopped using LiteStep for a while.

I had Windows 8 x64 at the time. I tried this with DisplayFusion 6.0.0 (Beta 2) on Windows 8.1 using LiteStep. Works fine. :)

I have the same issue since upgrading to 8.1 - I have to start DF manually every time... any ideas?

What I did was to create a Schedulled Task and set it to run when windows started.

@Ric: Can you check the Properties > Compatibility tab for the DisplayFusion.exe (in Program Files (x86)\DisplayFusion) to see if the "Run as administrator" option is set? If it is, try disabling that option and rebooting to test it out.

Thanks!

Never done that - I should know how to do it though so will learn immediately! Thanks :)

Thanks Keith

I hadn't got Compatibility mode set to Windows 8 OR 'Run as admin' checked - but I have now and no change after several restarts sadly.

Not a biggie, I get the other benefits of this excellent program and the switch screen gadget is only 2 clicks away but if you have any other ideas/suggestions... :|

There is an easy to follow Microsoft tutorial here.

@Ric: Ok, I was just making sure the Compatibility options weren't enabled, as Windows won't auto-start a program if it's got the "Run as administrator" box checked. I'm stumped as to why it wouldn't startup automatically.

@Alan: when you first had that issue, did you try uninstalling/re-installing DisplayFusion after the Windows 8.1 upgrade? Just wondering if that might resolve the issue.

Yes, I went down the uninstall/re-install route before reverting back to Win 8. Some time later I upgraded to 8.1 again and it still wouldnt auto load with Windows so I created a scheduled task which worked a treat. Sometime after that with a few Windows updates installed I deleated the task just to test it out and everything has worked as it should do since. I dont know if running it on Win 8.1 pro 64bit had anything to do with it or if one of the updates didnt agree with it but all is fine now and has been for a while.

As I mentioned in a previous post none of my programs that were supposed to auto-start would load with Windows so I assume it had something to do with 8.1 everything is fine now so I dont think it was a glitch in DF.
