I might be alone here, but it would be nice if the DF Taskbar was consistent with the Windows Taskbar.
By that I mean:
- Grouped Application windows (at the moment, windows just fill up the taskbar, rather than grouping)
- Shows Windows Taskbar menu, with DF menu as a sub menu only (perhaps optionally - I never use this stuff once set up!)
- Proper sliding of applications as you move them (the arrow mechanism is a bit generic)
- Option to duplicate (or not) the other furniture such as Quick Launch, in the way that the System Tray and Clock are
- Proper Jump Menus for apps, though the application-specific DF menu is great
- Shortcut keys on menus
I'm sure this is a fair amount of work, but for me, the absence of this functionality is strangely glaring!
Thanks again for a great product (which I am proud to support!)
im not sure if this is one of your issues as you described, but i noticed this on my default monitor if i have windows of the same app open on the taskbar they group together, but on my other monitors they are all separate which is the was i want them across all monitors. not sure if im missing a setting or something..
@Dave: Thanks for the feedback! These are all issues that are on our list, but they're more difficult to implement than it seems
We'll be sure to post an update on these when we have them. Note: proper jump lists should be making it into 5.0 Beta 6.
No, don't worry, I know what a lot of effort that probably is! And then you need to make it consistent across all versions of Windows. I don't envy you!
My workflow would probably prioritise the features in this order (luckily the easier ones are higher up the list!):
1. sliding application buttons
2. grouped application windows
3. proper windows taskbar menus
4. shortcut keys on menus
5. proper Jump Menus for apps
6. option to duplicate (or not) the other furniture
@Dave: Could you clarify which shortcut keys you're referring to?
@madlyfe: I should have mentioned, we're hoping to fix up the DF taskbar to match the Windows taskbar behaviour for the situation you mentioned. Unfortunately we can't force the Windows taskbar to split the running instances. However, this application may help you out: http://rammichael.com/7-taskbar-tweaker (try it at your own risk )

that is understandable since you guys are creating your own taskbars on the other monitors so you can make them how you want.. what about the idea of making the actual windows taskbar 'disappear' and use one of your created taskbars thats like those on the other monitors? obv i dunno technically how the 'disappear' or 'hiding' of the main taskbar would work, but you guys are crafty...
Sure, I mean when you right-click the taskbar application button and you get the context menu, then you can use the keyboard to navigate to the different options, i.e. C for close.
@Dave: Actually, I've just tried this out, and the context menu does have accelerator keys configured. For example: W for wallpaper, A for About, X for Exit, etc. Can you try them out to see if they work for you?
Just a quick update: Starting with DisplayFusion 5.0 Beta 6 (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/), DisplayFusion will now show the correct jump list entries to match the Windows taskbar.

Hey Keith,
I just downloaded the Beta 6 to test things out.
We must be talking crossed-purposes. I'm talking about right-clicking the taskbar button and then using an accelerator key to cycle through the options in the jump list, i.e. c: Close, cooking.com, creation.doc.
Right now, this works on my windows task bar, but on the DF one.

@madlyfe: We actually have an open feature request for that, so I'll add your vote.
is any of the taskbar stuff in beta 7 have to do with this?
