Hi,

My apologies if this has been covered already..I did search, but couldn't find a post that seems to cover the exact same issue.

Anyway, I has DF Pro installed on my Windows 7 64bit system and it has been running without issue now for nearly a year, but just now I tried to lauch it from the taskbar icon and nothing happened. I then went to the DF folder and tried clicking on the main DF exe file, but still nothing.

I opened Task Manager and can see the following files are loaded..

DisplayFusion.exe
DisplayFusionHookAppWIN6032.exe *32
DisplayFusionHookAppWIN6064.exe
DisplayFusionService.exe

I've scanned my system for viruses and malware and it comes up clean..so I'm not sure what's going on here. Do you guys know what's up..or how to sort this issue out? It's like DF starts when my system starts..I can see it sitting in the taskbar..and I can click on the icon and the pop-up menu appears..but nothing appears to happen when I click on any of the menu entries.

Kind regards

Dan

If those processes are running, DisplayFusion should be working. Note that the desktop icon only launches the background processes. To access the settings you can right-click the DisplayFusion tray icon, or you can use the Start Menu > All Programs > DisplayFusion > DisplayFusion Settings shortcut.

Please let me know if you still have any trouble at all :)

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, Keith..much appreciated, though I'm a little disappointed that you seem to have completely misunderstood what I said in my original post.

I HAVE tried to launch it via the icon on the taskbar. I get the menu, but when I click on a menu entry nothing happens. It may be running in the background, but there seems to be no way to actually interface with it..it's like it's not there at all.

Any ideas as to why it's suddenly not working anymore?

Ok, that's definitely strange. Would you be able to do the following?
  • Exit DisplayFusion (from the tray icon if you can, if not, kill it via Task Manager)
  • Import the attached .reg file to enable debug logging
  • Start DisplayFusion from the desktop icon or Start > All Programs > DisplayFusion
  • Try to access the settings both via the tray icon, and also via Start > All Programs > DisplayFusion > DisplayFusion Settings
  • Attach the C:\users\username\AppData\Roaming\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusion.log file to this topic

Thanks!

As it happens, I have uninstalled DF from my system..in order to see if a clean install will right the issue. For the record, what you suggested probably wouldn't have worked anyway, as I tried to launch DF from every way possible: try icon..start menu..desktop icon..as ell as clicking on the exe file in the DF folder..none of them worked.

I'll update you after the install. :)

Sounds good, I know that it still wouldn't have shown the settings with my last post, but if the processes are starting up, it should at least put some stuff in the debug log that would hopefully point us in the right direction :)

OK..did a clean install and everything is now working fine again.

Sorry about deleting it beforehand..as I'm sure any data that would have been there could have been useful to you guys in tracking this bug (..if it even was a bug!) down. If the issue recurs I hold off doing anything until I get advice from you guys.

Thanks for your time and help in dealing with this..much appreciated.

Hello,
I also am experiencing the issue where I cant open the settings menu. I can open other menu's, like the monitor configuration and wallpaper configuration, however when I try to open the settings menu, I just get the display fusion logo on my screen for 5-10 seconds and then it disappears. I'm running windows 7.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Do you have an application called "Dell Backup and Recovery" installed on your machine? If so, that's likely what's causing this to happen. If you don't use it, there are a couple of things you can do to resolve this:

  • Uninstall Dell Backup and Recovery, or,
  • Rename the C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Backup and Recovery\components\Shell\System.Data.SQLite.dll file to System.Data.SQLite.old

Hope that helps!
