Hi

So I have the following setup:

1 = 27" 1080p via Displayport to HDMI
2 = 22" 1080p via Displayport to HDMI
3 = Receiver to 1080p TV via HDMI

I have the following three profiles I want to create

1 - Default

Monitors 1 & 2 are enabled, 3 is disabled.
1 is the primary display
sound is coming from my sound card to my pc speakers via normal audio connections

2 - PC & TV

All displays are enabled
1 is the primary display, 3 is cloned with 2
Sound is coming from GPU to my receiver via HDMI

3 - TV only

Only monitor 3 is enabled
Sound is coming from my GPU to my receiver via HDMI

I can set up these profiles but when I switch between them I get error messages and monitor 3 does not disable when switching to the default profile.

The error message when switching from "TV only" to "Default":

An error has occurred while applying your new Monitor configuration.
Please check your settings and try again.

I tried to find a solution here on the forums but had no luck.

Does anyone know how I can ensure monitor 3 disables and my profiles switch correctly?

I think part of the problem is that the displays change IDs between the profiles. You can see in the screenshots below my screen changes from number 3 to number 2 after I press "Apply"

Yeah, I think the IDs are contributing to the issue for sure. I will test out this scenario here and see if I can reproduce this error.

In the meantime, could you do another test for me? If you switch from "TV" to "PC & TV," then from "PC & TV" to "Default," does it work correctly?

Hi Keith

In an attempt to improve the situation I changed the connections on my GPU. The error does not appear, but that could also be due to my receiver not being plugged out since the weekend.

Anyway, when I switch as you suggested the following happens:

"TV"

TV is display 1 , everything else is off, all is normal. You see the TV has the wallpaper of my 27" monitor though and not the one saying TV.

to "PC & TV"

The TV is the primary display, still display "1", the PC screens are mirrored. This is not how it was saved. TV and 22" (1&3) should be mirrored and the 27" (2) should be the primary display.

to "Default"

TV (1) is still the primary display with wallpaper for 27", 27" (2) is secondary with wallpaper for 22". It should be: TV off, 27" primary, 22" secondary.

Even if I set up the screens correctly again, Display fusion says that the relevant profiles are detected and I can't save them.

I hope you can do something with my explanation, I tried to keep it as clear as possible.

When the TV/receiver are off, does that display get fully disconnected from the computer?

Hi Keith,

When the receiver is off, then no. The TV is just disabled but still recognised by the computer. When the receiver is unplugged the TV is completely missing though.

Ok, I'll do some testing here with a TV and a couple of monitors to see if I can reproduce the same issue. I'll post an update when I have more news :)

I finally had some more time to test this out here and haven't had any luck reproducing the issue. However, I'm using a GTX 650 Ti, and I noticed you've got a GTX 1070. There was another Discussions topic with similar issues of the monitor IDs changing when switching between cloned and extended, and that customer was also using a GTX 1070, so I'm starting to wonder if it's an issue specific to the 1070.

Not sure if I can get my hands on a 1070 for testing, but if I do, I'll keep you posted on what I find out.

Thanks!

Hey Keith

Thanks for the support and keeping me updated. Let me know if you could get some testing done on a 1070

Cheers

We were actually able to test and reproduce this here, so we'll be sure to let you know if/when we're able to resolve the issue in a future version :)

Thanks!

We've just released DisplayFusion 9.2 Beta 2, and it should hopefully fix up the issues you were running into. Note that you should overwrite or save new versions of your Monitor Profiles after updating. Please let us know how it works out when you've had a chance to give it a go.

Thanks!
