I am also having problems with screen saver not working after upgrade. I am on Windows 10 and I have looked at every setting and everything looks ok. Is this a system problem with the new upgrade?

Windows Defender was falsely deleting the DisplayFusion screen saver file. Microsoft confirmed with us that it was a false positive so hopefully today's definition update will fix it. Can you try installing 9.0 again tomorrow? You should be able to just install over top, no need to uninstall first.

Thanks!

I'm not using Windows Defender but Eset NOD32 (and only it obviously)

Do you think the problem with Windows Defender can still impact DisplayFusion ?

We've found that sometimes antivirus vendors copy each other's definition updates, so it's definitely possible that other ones may have detected the same issue (falsely). If you open up the C:\Program Files (x86)\DisplayFusion folder, is DFSSaver.scr in there?

Keith,

I reinstalled DisplayFusion 9.0c and that did not help. Still no screen saver.

I have a very similar issue. For years, I have had my screensaver set at 5 minutes and screens to turn off at 10 minutes. Lately, the only way to get the screensaver to activate is to set it to one minute. Anything else... it will not activate nor will it allow the screen to turn off at the set time of 10 minutes.

I think this is related to the wallpaper managing function.

See my reply here:

It has to be related to the screen not turning on thing. I have the screen saver set to turn on after 5 minutes and the screen set to turn off after an hour. Neither does so when the system is left to its own devices. However, if I manually activate the screen saver, the screen will turn off as it is supposed to.

I'm guessing that something some where is preventing the system from recognizing that it's idling.

For what it's worth. My screen saver quit working too after the 9.0 update. This morning I got the new Defender signatures and re-installed DF 9.0c. Screen saver is still not working nor does the monitor go to sleep. Unless I Preview the screen saver and then things work as they should.

I got an idea from another discussion from a person that said setting his screensaver to go off after 1 minute was the only way he could get his screensaver to work. So, I tried to set my screensaver to go off after 1 minute and it works automatically. I started to think that the reason the screensaver could not go off was the interval between wallpaper changes in DisplayFusion. I set my wallpaper change interval to 10 minutes and the screensaver interval to 5 minutes and voila, it works. So, the problem is that the system (system 10 in my case) sees that the computer is busy by the interval of the wallpaper changes, which I believe was not a problem in earlier versions of DisplayFusion. So, a quick fix would be to set your screensaver interval a minute less than your wallpaper change interval.

We were able to reproduce this issue here, and I've added it to our list. We'll be sure to let you know as soon as we're able to fix it up :)

Thanks!

Hello, a small issue I seem to have come across.

I have 4 monitors connected to a MSI GTX 1070, i'm running Windows 10 with DF Pro 9.0

I set the screensaver to 'Blank' on all monitors except my "main screen". My main screen I set to 'No Screen Saver'.

When I click Preview, the main screen also goes blank too. If I were to set the main screen for example 3D Text, it will display this screensaver and the others blank.

The purpose I do this is to watch a movie on the main screen, and effectively turn the others dark (hence eliminating the need to switch off each monitor individually).

In the past it worked fine when I was using 3 monitors and win 7.

Somebody able to shed light why I can't achieve this anymore?

Thanks

This is just the way that Windows 8 and 10 start the screen saver, they start it on a secure desktop, so it's not possible to only run the screen saver on some monitors.

However, the new Monitor Fading feature should do what you're looking for. I would recommend updating to the latest 9.1 Beta, as there's a bug in 9.0 that we resolved for 9.1 :)

Hope that helps!

We've just released a new DisplayFusion beta version (https://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/) and this issue should be all fixed up. Please let us know if you run into any trouble after updating.

Thanks!
