For the last week or two, every time my computer starts up, one of the first windows error messages I get is:

Display Fusion has stopped working. Checking for solutions.

I've got the latest version after uninstalling and reinstalling the updated one. I have the latest .NET framework, and no clue what causes the crash since details aren't provided. Running Vista Home Premium with dual monitors.

Any ideas on how to remedy? Thanks.

Here are a couple things to try:
- Uninstall DisplayFusion, then manually delete the installation folder to make sure it's properly cleaned out, then re-install
- Disable any anti-virus or anti-malware software and give it another try to make sure there isn't a conflict

Has DisplayFusion ever worked on your computer? If yes, do you know what changed when it stopped working?

The system Event Viewer may also reveal clues as to what is happening.

- Go to START and type in Eventvwr
- In the list of Administrative Events, you should find an error log for DisplayFusion's collapse.

Good tip, siliconman01. There may be some good information in there relating to the crash.

Thanks for the tips guys. oddly, I had replied to Jon's first post last night, but I guess it didn't post. I followed the original uninstall suggestion and the uninstall was clean enough that a manual delete wasn't even possible. After a clean install, same immediate crash. Not sure what changes would be impacting the problem since it started when nothing significant was done.

Unfortunately, right now I am battling spyware or a trojan that may be making it even tougher to get it to run correctly. I was able to find some details from siliconman01's eventvwr and have pasted thwm here in both XML and friendly mode. Thanks for your help.

So I think I've got my computer clean of the trojan and any viruses now and ran the latest DF installer and it is running fine now- no errors. I think that whatever I had on here was impacting a file that display fusion used as well. Does it use atapi at all? This was one location of infection I had to clean.

I'm glad to hear you got your computer cleaned out, I know how frustrating that can be. DisplayFusion does rely on a few system libraries, but the ATAPI library isn't one of them. The virus could have been affecting DisplayFusion in any number of ways, but I'm glad to hear it's working as expected now. :)
