Thanks! I couldn't reproduce this even with your settings backups. Does this happen even after a reboot?

Ok, I still can't reproduce this here, and the only difference I can see between your setups and mine is that you have MPC-BE installed, and it looks like a couple of MPC-BE DLLs are getting loaded into DisplayFusion.exe for some reason. After installing MPC-BE, I still couldn't reproduce it, but I'm wondering if it's a settings thing. Could you export your MPC-BE settings and attach them? You can do this on Miscellaneous tab in the settings.

Thanks!

lavfilters are not MPC-BE dll's they are pure codecs... that get loaded when you decode audio/video from a file...

Lately, I think since this new beta, when playing a full screen game, my game keeps dropping from fullscreen into windowed mode. If I exit displayfusion it stops happening. This did not happen to me in previous versions. Any ideas? Did you makes some changes in this area lately?
Setup:
Windows 10 64bit,
main monitor - 3440x1440, running displayfusion taskbar
second monitor on left side, running main windows taskbar
problematic games (only ones I have been playing lately): dishonored 2, dying light.
attached settings, since that seems useful.

I think this is the same or similar problem I am having since the latest few beta versions. I am using the Logitech Gaming Software for my mouse, which switches profiles, depending on the program running in the foreground. Since the latest said betas of DisplayFusion it happens every few minutes, that the profile is switched to the default one (which should only be active when on the desktop for example), while playing a game (happens with all games). Seems that somehow DisplayFusion causes this behaviour, it stops when i end the application.

Interesting data point..I am also running logitech mouse software for my Performance MX (standard logitech). In addition, I am also running logitech gaming software for my G13 Logitech game pad. I will play with those some to see if they are related.

Ok Andraz and Bogdan: I've found the cause. In 9.0 Beta 1 and up, we preload the audio player when DisplayFusion starts up, because some customers were complaining that the sound effects on some functions ("Prevent Window Deactivation" etc) were delayed. To stop the LAV Splitter from loading when DisplayFusion starts up, just disable the "wav" format on the Input Formats tab in the LAV Splitter settings. In other codec packs (CCCP etc) it's disabled by default, but with Shark007 it's enabled by default for some reason.

Crular and sundansx: If you disable the DisplayFusion Multi-Monitor Taskbar feature before launching your games, do you still run into this issue?

No, didn't fix it, the games still seem to "lose" focus and the profile switches to the default one. But it seems the focus is only lost for a milisecond and given back to the game again. I can only recognize it by the profile switching.

I updated Codec Pack. LAV Splitter & Audio Decoder starts again. Codec Pack updates very often - once per week for sure. Can You make Checkbox in Settings to have choice to run this audio decoders so I could turn it off? Please? :)

The stable version does indeed not have this problem and everything is working as intended. I think the issue surfaced with the latest beta 3 or 2 and beta 1 didn't have the problem either.

The problem with focus loss is related to the wallpaper slideshow.
every time the wallpaper changes, the foreground application losses it's focus.
I experienced the same problem with the logitech software / keyboard profiles. After some research I found the wallpaper slideshow to be the reason.

I use only pictures from a network drive.

Thanks for the hint, will try that. But I am using the slideshow since I am using DisplayFusion and never had problems before the newest betas.

I don't have it enabled either. And I can confirm, that the automatic Wallpaper change is the culprit, when I disable it the focus in games isn't lost anymore. But this issue does only exist in the newer betas, the current stable version doesn't cause it.

@Gerhard and Crular, could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info?
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Copy to Clipboard" button
  • Paste the text into a text file (please don't paste the text directly into your reply, the formatting gets garbled and makes it difficult to parse)
  • Reply with the file attached

Have been on vacation, could not reply. "Wallpaper: Force Desktop Refresh After Wallpaper Change" option is at default (not force). I have and have always had wallpaper slideshow disabled. That is not causing my problem. I did not have the problem until beta 2 or 3. Troubleshooting info attached.

Edit: rolled back to stable, will report if that changes things.

I didn't test beta 1 as the problem is not in beta 2.
Just for testing I installed beta 3 again and with it comes the bug.

We've just released 9.0 Beta 4, and there's now an Advanced Setting ("General: Disable Audio File Preloading and Caching") that you can enable to resolve this issue.

Beta 4:
Option Disable Audio File Preloading and Caching:
Enabled -> same problem
Disabled -> same problem
Disabled and restart -> same problem

I still have this problem even with Beta 4 and the new Option at Disabled(Caching off)
The focus e.g. of Lightroom gets lost as soon as the wallpaper changes.

Sorry, I should have been more clear in my previous post, that was for the issue reported earlier with the LAV Splitter icon showing in the tray while DisplayFusion was running.

The focus change issue is still open on our list.

Thanks!

How can I get 9.0-Beta2.exe again?
I tried the new version 9, but the bug (focus loss) still exists and I don't have the installer for the beta 2 anymore.

If I can help to find the bug, please tell me.

Here you go: https://www.binaryfortress.com/Files/DisplayFusion/DisplayFusionSetup-9.0-Beta2.exe

We haven't been able to track this down here yet. We can't reproduce it here, and we diffed the code between Beta 2 and 3 and can't find anything obvious that would be causing this. It's still open on our list though, so if we have any more news, or need some more help from you guys to troubleshoot it, we'll definitely let you know!

I have same problem on the new v9.0.
And I found this option can solve the problem:
Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Disable Audio File Preloading and Caching
Set it to "Audio files will nerver be preloaded or cached."

To which problem are you referring? The loss of focus in a fullscreen app/game? Preloading audio has some interaction?
thanks.
