We're very excited to announce that DisplayFusion 9.5 Beta 1 is now available for download! This version is mostly bug fixes for issues from 9.4.3.

Important Notes!

  • The first time you open the Settings > Screen Saver tab after installing 9.5 Beta 1, it will be very slow to open, due to Windows Defender locking the .scr files for a long time during the initial scan.
  • We've made a change to how refresh rates are set with Monitor Profiles. If you run into trouble with your profiles after updating, you may need to re-save them.
  • WallpaperFusion is now limited to slideshow intervals of 15 minutes or higher to reduce costs.

DisplayFusion 9.5 Beta 1 Highlights

  • Fixed a couple of Chrome issues with Monitor Splitting
  • The "Mirror Selected Area" function now works correctly when run via key combination
  • Updated Google Photos wallpaper source to the new API, as the old one is shutdown
  • Added search support for WallpaperAbyss wallpaper source
  • Fixed an issue with Image Info when using tag
  • Fixed the filter box in the WallpaperFusion tag selector
  • Using "Move Window to Next Monitor" on Remote Desktop windows now moves the connection bar as well
  • Fixed an issue where some refresh rates couldn't be set, note that you may need to re-save your Monitor Profiles.
  • Resolved an issue where Monitor Configuration wouldn't apply on some systems (including VMware with guest 3D acceleration disabled)

Updating DisplayFusion

We encourage everyone to update to this new version today to take advantage of these improvements. If you've already purchased DisplayFusion, it's a lifetime license, so you can upgrade to this version at no cost! The changelog mentions you added new scripting functions. What are the new functions?

The list in this article seems a lot more complete than the one in the beta log - more like if you want a useless summary of the changes, visit the change log.

"Fix: Many other improvements and fixes"

^^ I agree, can DisplayFusion team be a little better with future patch notes? Maybe referance the forum topic about said "bug fix" etc. It's helpful for us beta tester and others who report problems here when we know what is actually changing under the hood.

Anyone else having issues with the wallpaper slideshow no longer working after the google photos api was updated? It seems to only changes once per day then no longer changes even though I have the interval set to 5 minutes.

Yes, I'm having issues too. If I go into the settings, and press 'Get Settings' it works, but at best will only update once a day.

@LaLoosh & tpolz: Could you send me a debug log?

  • Change the wallpaper interval to 1 minute for this test (Apply the wallpaper settings and make sure to close the wallpaper window, it won't change the wallpaper on the timer if the wallpaper configuration is open)
  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Wait 5 minutes or so
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks!

Keith,
This morning when I logged in it seemed to be working. The desktop changed about 3 or 4 times but then stopped. Unfortunately I didn't have logging on at that time. I turned logging on and rebooted hoping maybe to replicate but had no luck it still was not updating. I went in and selected get settings and search and it returned 100 images but appeared all blank. Clicked reset, and delete cache and then re-searched and images were returned. clicked use these settings and it has been working without issue since. I will keep an eye on it and try and see if any pattern is identified and able to be repeated.

keith,

So it stopped working.... Log is attached. at 10:03 it updated, at 10:08 it failed. I saved the log and then turned off logging. I probably should have kept it on a little longer. I went back into get settings and sure enough was blank again when I clicked search, clicked delete cache and reset and then search. This time returning results, however unlike last time it still doesnt appear to be working again. Hopefully the logs help.

Thanks,
Adam

Thanks! I was able to reproduce this here just now as well. It seems like the login token for Google Photos may be expiring, requiring a logout/login to get it working again.

I've added this to our list to investigate further for the next beta.

Thanks!
