Weird problem I've been having lately, running it on a fresh install of Windows 7, occasionally DisplayFusion will suddenly hang, and Windows will show the little prompt window saying "This program has stopped responding" and offer to wait, kill it and restart it, or just kill it.

Selecting any of the options will make DisplayFusion disappear/close, and about 20 seconds later, all my open programs will crash into oblivion, as in, the exe just shuts off, no error, no nothing, just disappears and loses any unsaved work. I will then be left starring at my wallpaper, ending/restarting explorer.exe has no effect, logging in/out has no effect, I'm forced to reboot.

Event viewer shows no errors, doesn't even show DisplayFusion crashing, and there's no BSOD or anything AFAIK.

Also, it doesn't consistently do this, it happens maybe once a week.

Can you enable the Debug Logging option in DisplayFusion, and make sure you are running the latest beta:

After it crashes again, can you send me the DisplayFusion.log file? (it might be quite large) Thanks!

Finally got it to crash again, attached is the log 1 reboot before it crashed.

What happened is I clicked on a program that was on the DisplayFusion window, and DisplayFusion became unresponsive, Windows popped up the message saying it's unresponsive, I clicked "Close and restart this program" and shortly after DisplayFusion came back online, Windows popped up a message saying "XXXX Program has encountered an error and needs to close" for each program I had running on Windows, one by one, until all my programs had crashed and closed, and then I rebooted.

I'm also running the latest stable (non-beta) version at work

Can you try running the beta on both your work and home computers? Does this issue happen on both computers, or just your home computer?

Work computer only so far, I'll try running the beta.

What I've noticed is when a program, such as Photoshop CS4, hangs for a bit while it processes information (it likes to chug a lot..), and I click the displayfusion taskbar (on a blank/empty space, not a program icon) then there's a very high chance it'll lock up displayfusion and send it into that weird crash sequence.

I've had to uninstall it, it's crashing constantly and taking out all running programs + explorer which makes working impossible. Log files remain empty though for some reason.

I'll try a beta version when I get some down time.

I'm sorry to hear that you're still having issues. I would recommend disabling the Application Hooks via the Troubleshooting tab. This should fix any system hangs, and will still allow you to use the DF wallpaper, taskbars and TitleBar buttons. :)

Disabling the Application Hooks worked really well, up until a few days ago. Now it'll randomly freeze and I have to kill the process and then restart DF, at least it doesn't take down all my work though. I've attached the latest log.

It usually happens if I have a memory-intensive program on the DF taskbar, such as Photoshop or/and Fireworks CS5. It'll also only become unresponsive after a click or double-click on the taskbar itself (not an application).

Thanks :-)

Still happening. Seems to be mostly when I have very large files open in Photoshop/Fireworks on a DF taskbar-controlled screen.

Unfortunately I don't have a log for it.

Can you update to Beta 10 and let me know if it's still happening? Thanks! :)

I ended up finding a few things broken within the OS, so I reformatted, and everything's been running smoothly for a few weeks now.

Thanks for the help though :-D

DF will still hang for a little bit with large files open in programs on the DF taskbar, but it recovers after a few seconds.
