Hi, when I try and open displayfusion I get a error message saying DisplayFusion has stopped working, this is before the application has actually opened, I think it is a .NET Framework error but I am not sure. Please tell me what information you need to help fix this thanks.

Definitely sounds like a .NET Framework issue. What method did you try to repair it? There are a few things you can try:
  • At a command prompt, run sfc/scannow
  • Check for Windows Updates, if there are any listed for .NET Framework, install them
  • Try removing and re-adding .NET Framework from Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features on or off

If none of the above fix it, there's one last workaround that will work for DisplayFusion specifically, so just let me know :)

Thanks!

DisplayFusion normally targets the .NET Framework 2.0 for compatibility reasons, but it will also run against the .NET Framework 4.5. So, you can install the latest .NET Framework 4.x, and then replace the *.exe.config files in the C:\Program Files (x86)\DisplayFusion directory with the ones in the attached zip file. DisplayFusion should then target the .NET Framework 4.x when it starts up.

Thanks!

You wonderful human being! The attachment worked for me. I did a windows update and everything went to hell. Lost 2/3rds of my desktop icons and Displayfusion. Thank you.

Worked for me to. Will I have to do this again with the next software upgrade?

You might, it depends on if those .config files get overwritten during the update. Have you tried the steps from post #2 to try and repair the built-in .NET Framework?

Keith - Yep, tried fixing Net Framework for three days. Now I'm just finishing up a Win 7 rebuild. It was time anyway... Thanks!
