Hi,

I am running DisplayFusion 7.3.4 and it is really causing my CPU usage to spike. Currently the CPU is at anywhere from 30-50% with DisplayFusion using anywhere from 20-25% of it. This is on my work computer and I run several applications and windows and the CPU usage is never this high. It only started when I re-downloaded and attempted to use DisplayFusion today. My computer runs Windows 8.1 Enterprise and 16GB of RAM.

Any help would be appreciated as I really like this product and paid for it.

Thanks!!

Thanks for the video! Could you also attach a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Copy to Clipboard" button
  • Paste the text into a text file (please don't paste the text directly into your reply, the formatting gets garbled and makes it difficult to parse)
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks! It looks like there may be a compatibility rule enabled on DisplayFusion.exe. Could you do the following?
  • Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\DisplayFusion
  • Right-click DisplayFusion.exe and choose Properties
  • Click the Compatibility tab
  • Send me a screenshot of the Compatibility tab

Thanks!

Hi Keith,

Unfortunately that is on work computer so it will have to wait until tomorrow morning. I will get it to you first thing!

However, I just installed it again today, I had this issue early last year and I quit using it and now I want to use it again. Anywho.. I installed it fresh today so I don't think there is any compatibility setup.

Thanks,

Wow! Those definitely shouldn't be enabled by default, that's really weird. Can you do the following?
  • Uncheck the "Disable display scaling" and "Run as administrator" boxes, and click Apply
  • Click the "Change settings for all users" button
  • Disable the "Run this program in compatibility mode" checkbox, and click Apply
  • Restart DisplayFusion or the computer

The Compatibility tab should look like the attached screenshot.

So your Compatibility tab looks like the one in my screenshot now, and you've rebooted the computer as well?

I have not restarted yet. I work in a call center so I will do that shortly. I will update this when I have done that.

Thanks!

Restarted and it is still happening. My machine is getting bogged down and running slow at times because of DisplayFusion.

Could you attach a new copy of the troubleshooting info, as well as a new screenshot of the Compatibility tab for DisplayFusion.exe?

Thanks!

Here you go. The settings have been untouched. It has been running at about 30% all day.

The log says "Error: Result is invalid." Not sure why.. those settings haven't been changed either since the last time.

Thanks! Are you able to uncheck that "Run this program in compatibility mode for" box, apply the settings, then restart the computer again and see if that helps? If you can verify that that box stays unchecked immediately after rebooting again, that would be great as well.

I did this and the box is unchecked after a reboot, but the CPU issue is still there :(

Keith,

Happy to announce that this issue appears to be fixed. I haven't had high CPU spikes lately. I will continue to monitor and if this happens again, I will check the compatibility settings. If I cannot fix it by doing that, I will start a new thread. This can be closed.

Thank you!
