Monitor 2 is my main display. Positioned 1 to the left, 2 to the right.
3.5.0 B8

I am a developer so I understand about, "It's broke", kind of comments.
Never the less sometimes DisplayFusion just stops. I'll look at the time on the secondary screen and the time is more than an hour off. Or I will click on an icon on the taskbar and it will turn milky white.
Today, Monday, I came in and the time on the DF taskbar was 8:00 Friday night. I left around 6:00 Friday. So it does not seem to be user interaction.

I will try to get you better info about what is happening when is stops, but so far I don't notice it until long after.

BTW: I spend a lot of time in full screen Virtualbox.

Could you attach a copy of the info from the Troubleshooting tab in the DisplayFusion Settings?

Thanks!

Ok awesome! The next time it happens, could you please send me the %APPDATA%\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusion.log file? You can find it by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab.

Thanks!

The taskbar clock stopped at 7:47 and the log at that time shows "2012/03/13 19:47:09.12: FAIL:L1: BFSafeLock:Lock:"
I see some guilty looking similarities.

Interesting! If you disable the tray icons on the DisplayFusion taskbar (right-click the taskbar, navigate to Multi-Monitor Taskbar > System Tray > Show/Hide Icons), does the issue go away?

Thanks!

Thank you sir, would you like another.

Okay here is another log, but with "SUPER Advanced logging" turned on this time.
Hope it offers some insight.
Freeze time 10:14 & again at 11:16

I am guessing that additional logs will be redundant at this point, so am turning off logging.

"Did it still crash even with the tray icons disabled?"

Yes.
Post 11 is the log with the tray icons off.
Since it continued to crash I thought it made no difference and I turned them back on.

Post 12 is two crashes with "Detailed" & "Advanced Debugging" turned on.

The owner drawn window frame does not get the DF buttons positioned over the frame like my other windows.
So I am thinking that might be related.

The TitleBar Buttons issue is just because the window is custom and DisplayFusion doesn't think it needs to put TitleBar Buttons on it.

However, I've been running ScreenConnect, connected to a Guest for over a half hour, and it hasn't locked up yet. I'm using Windows 7 x64 for the Host PC, which version of Windows are you using?

Could you send me the debug log (%APPDATA%\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusion.log) again the next time it hangs?

Thanks!

Windows 7 x64

It failed last night after the new beta came out.

I've turned logging back on, have been playing with it, and no problems.
But after last night I am not convinced.
I think I need to look away for a bit. :)

I had the remote session open for an hour before I realized it was open in a virtual machine, not the DF machine. :(
Well anyway...

I opened a session on my computer with Display Fusion running on it at approximately 2:47:59.85 and at 2:53 the DF taskbar locked up.

We've just released 3.5 Beta 11 (renamed to 4.0.0 Beta 11) with some changes that will hopefully resolve this issue. Could you give it a try when you have a chance and let me know how it goes?

Thanks!

I open the ScreenConnect window and don't move it.
I move the mouse over the DF tasksbar and it is interactive, in that the tool-tips pop up or the other items highlight as I move over them.
I keep checking for a few minutes, not clicking on anything, just seeing the items highlight. All Okay.
Turn away for few minutes without touching the PC and then recheck. No response. Click and the bar turns white. Send you a log.

I will try on another PC.
This PC has a 3D capable monitor (not in use) that causes Netflix to not work in full screen mode.
I have tried unchecking each of the checkboxes on the taskbar setup, tried each taskbar mode, set the middle click to "Do Nothing" and preview to Disabled, but no change.

Disabling the multi-monitor taskbar does stop the problem.

Thanks for the update! Let me know how it works out when you get a chance to try it on another machine.

Another thing you can try is creating a Compatibility rule in DisplayFusion to prevent it from hooking the ScreenConnect app. Detailed instructions here: http://www.displayfusion.com/KB/TroubleshootingInfo/#createcompatibilityrule

Thanks!

With DF set to not hook the ScreenConnect window I am working without error.
Nice safety net.
Will test on another PC because I am that way.

Thanks!

BTW: The ScreenConnect session is in a path that looks kind of "tempish":

C:\Users\MyPath\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\DLEQ5W6X.CT0\E5ZV4RZD.5T4\elsi..tion_69acd703c415f77d_0002.0004_5897cddc77526dfc\Elsinore.ScreenConnect.HostClient.exe

It may cause me to not be able to keep a compatibility setting.

Ah ok, keep me posted on what you find when you test it on the other machine. If it's broken there too, we may need to just add it to an internal exclusion list in DisplayFusion.

That's the path to a ClickOnce application. I have a bunch of in-house developed ClickOnce apps that I use, and DF doesn't cause problems with any of them.

The compatibility rule only worked for a day and then the one click path changed, so I removed the compatibility rule instead of chasing the path.

But with Beta 13 it all works great.

Thanks so much.
