I have wanted to have a simple "dissolve" feature in DF, but I didn't want to fight with potential incompatibilites with 3rd party offerings. DF is too valuable as it is to get than mucked up.

Any suggestions for reliable solutions?

We've just released a new DisplayFusion beta version (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/) and the DisplayFusion Photos Screen Saver now has an option in the Settings to use transition between images.
