You could also blame DF as for "impacting gaming performance" per se, whenever your machine ressource will reach its limits running DF and such game at the same time. But this would mean you have very poor performance to run the game without DF anyway. Understanding? The last case described may not appear in 99.9% of all cases.

The individual answer to this question is related to your specific hardware, the game to run and other apps running in background. To make your own analysis simply openup the taskmanager and check the used amount of RAM+CPU for both: DF and the game.
