Keith,

Have you had any reports of Dropbox slowing down over time? It can take 5-10 seconds or more to display the popup when I click on the tray icon. If I exit and restart DF, then the popup starts appearing instantly again.

Haven't run into that here, but I don't click the Dropbox tray icon very often :)

Does this only happen if you click it on the DF taskbar, or also on the Windows taskbar?

Either task bar. But it may be a Dropbox thing. Let me play with it a bit. It seems slow only the first time, which may be why I thought that existing Dropbox fixed it.

But I have hit something weird. If I click the icon on the DF taskbar to display the popup on my second monitor, then click the Dropbox icon on my native taskbar, the popup doesn't move back to above the native taskbar. So DF is doing some caching and not re-adjusting the position of the popup each time. Sounds like their bug to me.

I noticed that too. I'm guessing that the Dropbox popup is remembering it's last position, but I've added it to our list and we'll see if it's something we can fix from our end.

Thanks!

Wanted to raise this slowness issue again. It definitely seems to be related to the DF hooks. Checked the Dropbox tray icon menu when the DF beta update notice came up, and it took about 8 seconds to open. Installed the update, which in effect requires restarting DF, and now the Dropbox menu opens instantly again. I'm sure that will degrade over time again.

How long does your system have to be running before this happens? My uptime is about 7 hours, and the Dropbox tray popup still opens instantly for me.

Not sure exactly, but it was just yesterday that DF restarted and the Dropbox popup returned to showing instantly. Now it takes 10 seconds. But only the first time. So maybe it is more Dropbox and not DF. I'm confused. Will have to monitor it with ProcMon and see if that tells me any more.

Yeah, ignore me. This is total coincidence. Dropbox must perform some sort of caching, so the first time it displays it is slow. Then, I would kill DF and lo and behold, subsequent displays of the Dropbox menu are instantaneous! But I did further testing, and if there's a long delay between DB menu showings, it's slow to appear even without DF running.

Since we are on the subject of Dropbox, I'd like to report that when right-clicking on the Dropbox system tray icon on a taskbar that DisplayFusion created, the status shows up for an instant then re-appears on the native task bar.

Which version of Windows are you running? It works correctly for me here :)
