I have display fusion through Steam, and I was on version 9.8 but switched to the beta version 10 to attempt to fix this problem.
I have 2 monitor profiles saved. When I attempt to load the other profile either through the menu or with shortcut keys, I get this error:
An error has occurred while applying your new Monitor configuration.
Please check your settings and try again.
Error: Failed to call SetDisplayConfig. [HR: 31]
[System.Exception]
I was getting an error (87) doing the same thing and I ended up creating new monitor profiles and that resolved the issue. But I'd like to not keep doing that.

Hello,
What is the monitor profile trying to change?
Thanks!

trying to switch between active displays along with changing the audio output. I've tried removing the audio output change and I still get the error 31. In this screenshot, the two profiles labeled with a '2' are the ones I recreated and give me error 31.

Okay, I may have found the issue but I'm not sure if this behavior is expected.
Previously I noticed in the monitor configuration screen one of my 3 displays was not showing up. This is a display that is saved to a monitor profile and I am trying to switch to that profile.
I'm guessing the display wasn't available because it was timing out for signal and going to sleep. Just now, I saw that the display was showing up again in the monitor configuration screen (I'm WFH and that monitor is currently active on a laptop using a different input), and now I can switch to that monitor profile without error.
Will the monitor profile switch fail if every display saved in a profile is not currently available?

Hello,
Ah, yep. DisplayFusion will try to apply any settings for that monitor, but if it's not seen as connected, it will error out. That monitor will need to be turned on for you to switch profiles.
Thanks!

Is it possible to put in a feature request for a more graceful solution? The monitor is on but sleeping and on a different input.
The use case is: I have one display (TV, different floor of my house) and then 3 displays in my office. I use the shortcuts to switch displays when I can't see the desktop (because the display profile is active for the other room).
As it works now, if it errors, its on a screen in another room and I can't click okay without leaving where I am at, powering on the display in the other room.
Some sort of option/checkbox to ignore offline displays and still switch the profile would be awesome.
If not, just knowing the problem is great too (an error actually describing the problem would be great too).
Thanks for all your help!
Hello,
Is the monitor connected through a DisplayPort cable? Most DisplayPort's, and some HDMI cables will disconnect the monitor from the Windows Display Settings when they enter sleep. We pull the DisplayFusion information using the Windows API, so I'm not too sure if we can do anything here, but I'll double check with our developers.
If we come up with anything, I'll be sure to let you know.
Thanks!

Thats correct, all the office displays are monitors connected through DP.
No worries, just a thought. But again, it would have been great if the error message told me a monitor was missing from a profile I was trying to switch to so I knew what the problem was.
Thanks for all your help.
