I was looking to use DisplayFusion to manage my new multi-screen setup since the Windows stock interface is a bit lacking. In particular, the Orientation setting is missing in the Windows interface.

I hoped that DisplayFusion would help on this regard, but unfortunately, whenever trying to apply any changes to the screen settings that include a change in orientation, I get the following error message:

Error: Failed to call SetDisplayConfig. [HR: 31]

I have an HP dv7-7305eo with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 and nVidia GeForce GT 650M. All drivers are up to date.

I've tried editing the ControlSet registry in HKLM/SYSTEM/ to add the disabled orientation setting back, to no avail. I've searched for every instance of "EnableIndependentRotation", "EnableRotation", "PortraitMode", "RotationCaps", and "DisableAsyncFlips" for each Display[x] in the Control/Class registry tree, as well as "Rotation" for the monitor setup under GraphicsDrivers/Configuration.

Can anyone help me rotate my second screen? Thanks in advance!

None of the Intel interfaces (the control panel or the tab in the device properties dialog) have the ability to set the orientation. The Intel applet doesn't display the option on the page where I know it should be (based on screenshots I've seen online), and the tab has the orientation dropdown grayed out.

According to this page on Intel's site, "The rotation feature may not be available if this feature is disabled by the computer manufacturer."

Intel HD Graphics 4000 is listed as one of the devices this manual applies to, so I'll assume the chip is capable of orientation, and it's just disabled by HP for some reason. I think the assumption is fair, as the computer is high-end, only a year old, and I've seen countless threads online about specifically HP laptops with specifically the 4000 series Intel chip having the orientation disabled (and various registry trickery to get it enabled again).

Is there any way around this limitation?
