Hello all. I have a small problem. I've used DisplayFusion for years with the same profile and no worries. I have a 32:9 monitor divided in a 16:9 central part and two smaller parts on each side. Recently, I can't say exactly when it started, I noticed a problem with Firefox only: it doesn't maximize to the division size (any of them) but to the whole monitor size. However, when I click on the buttons to make it move from one division to the next, it works as intended.

What version of Firefox are you running? You can find it in the Help > About Firefox section

Strange, I'm running the same version but I can't seem to reproduce this on my end. Could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks for sending that over, everything looks good there. Could you also send over a video of the issue happening?

I don't know how to record videos of the desktop, so I took two screenshots. The only difference between the two is a click on the maximize button of Firefox. I also have run it in repair mode so all addons are off. Any of my other applications maximizes to the size of the central division, as expected.

Could you also send me over a debug log? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Just so you know, I installed and tested an older version of Firefox, version 106 from october 2022, and it has the same problem. I used that version at that time with DisplayFusion (I don't remember which beta version it was then) and the same setup/profile and all worked well then.

Interesting, if you roll back to v9.9 of DisplayFusion, does the issue persist?

No, as expected, version 9.9 works as intended with Firefox.

Okay, I've done some more tests. Beta 18 works, beta 19 makes Firefox (older version or latest) bug/freeze, beta 20 and later ones do not work (but no more bugs like beta 19).
I've joined a screenshot of my monitor profile if it can help, but I have others and any type of division causes the same problem.

You mentioned you have it running in repair mode, if you disable that does it maximize fine?

No, I tried first in normal mode, then in repair mode to check if the problem might have been related to the use of addons in Firefox, but both configurations had the same result.

I think I know what's going on here, and we should have it fixed up in our next beta. We'll let you know once it's released to test out.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot to you and the team for your time and your help. I'll wait and use beta 18 for the moment.

We've just released a new DisplayFusion beta version and this issue should be all fixed up. Please let us know if you run into any trouble after updating.

Thanks!
