Yeah, I know, there is already a thread about this topic... I read it but I dont feel it solves my problems.

If I open the start menu and click an application, it opens on the window where the start menu is. So far, so good.

The problem is, I use a lot of applications. The fastest way for me is to press the start-button (or the windows-key on my keyboard) and to type the application I want to start, e.g. word. When I start applications this way, they always appear on the same monitor. I think that displayfusion should be able to start the applications on the right monitor when I do it this way, but they dont. E.g. I open the start menu at screen no.2, type "word" and press enter - Word opens at screen no. 1.

The last thing sounds easy for me, but of cause I have no idea if it is complicated to develop: I think I start most applications over a file. To keep word as example, I doubleclick a .docx document. It would be really helpful, if a document that is doubleclicked at screen no. 1 starts at screen number 1 and a document that is doubleclicked at screen no. 2 starts at screen no. 2.

Is there a solution for the first problem I mentioned, and will there be a solution for the second problem in the future?

I made a similar request (to open a new window on the current monitor) a few days ago http://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/move-new-window-to-current-monitor/?ID=327f121e-bbb7-45d5-bab4-b7c160ac222b but Keith indicated that it's not currently possible. Would be good, though !!

Indeed!

@Jay: I've added your vote to the open feature request from @ScotProf. I'll be sure to post an update in this topic as well when we're able to add that functionality.

Thanks!

I had also asked about this feature when I purchased. I knew it wasn't in the current version, but was hoping for it soon in an update.

My problem is that I use dual monitors on two computers using a KVM. The second monitor requires manually toggling between computers. I switch back and forth between computers quite often while working on projects. When I open a window or program on a computer it goes to the second monitor (which by necessity for the hookup is #1), which means that about half the time I can't tell it's opened or use it till I switch the secondary monitor over.

I really like DisplayFusion, but for my use I think I'm going to have to switch back to 'that other' program. For me, the most important thing in a program like this is the ability for any program or window to open on the current (where the mouse is) monitor...

Just installed 4.1.0 b13, in which this requested function has been included. It works like a charm. Referring back to my OP at http://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/move-new-window-to-current-monitor/?ID=327f121e-bbb7-45d5-bab4-b7c160ac222b, I can now click on (say) monitor #3 to open Listary, then I choose the desired folder - and my preferred file manager, Total Commander, opens (at that folder) on the current monitor (in this example, on monitor #3). Fantastic, thanks !!

Sorry to revive an old thread.

I'd actually forgotten that I'd purchased DP back in 2012, and purchased it again last week on a BDJ special.

It appears reading the last entries of this thread that DP can now open new windows on the 'current' monitor. Can you tell me where the option is to force windows to open on the current monitor (the one the mouse resides on)?

I can't seem to find it, and right now my windows are all opening on the primary monitor regardless of which monitor I open them from.

Thanks...

Sure thing! You just need to add a Window Location rule for all windows. Please see the attached screenshot for reference :)

Thanks for your additional purchase too!

Excellent, thanks Keith. Worked like a charm.

I'd been to that screen, but didn't realize you could use global variables for the application file name. Appreciate the quick response.

While I'm here, maybe I can ask an off-topic question without creating a new one? I just purchased a home license (all personal computers) and had forgotten I'd purchased DP back in 2012, though I didn't use it then. Would it be possible to transfer that license to a friend so it doesn't go to waste? Thanks...
