I have my primary taskbar set to auto hide and replaced it with my DisplayFusion taskbar. Every time I launch Metro Exodus it minimises to the taskbar before starting and it takes numerous clicks on the icon to open the game to full screen, sometimes needing a restart of the machine to open the game.
Searching the internet led me to Samung Magician could be the cause and to disable it but that didnt work in my case. I slowly went through my startup programs one by one and found the culprit to be DisplayFusion. If I shut it down the game will start without problems, if I dont then the game will start minimised to the taskbar with clicking on the icon a hit and miss whether I can have the game in full screen or not.
Is this something you are aware of and is there a fix for this as I dont want to disable DisplayFusion when I want to play this game?
Thanks
Alan

Hi Alan,

If you open up the DisplayFusion Settings window and head to the Compatibility tab, can you add in your application and turn on "Disable DisplayFusion Taskbars while this application is running", and see if the issue persists after restarting DisplayFusion?

Thanks!

Hi Owen,
No that didnt work. The DF taskbar disabled as it should do when the game was launched but the game just minimised to the Windows taskbar instead.

Hi Alan,

Interesting, can you also try enabling "Force DisplayFusion to treat this as a full screen application" in that compatibility window, and see if that helps?

Thanks!

I tried with "Disable DisplayFusion Taskbars while this application is running" enabled as well as "Force DisplayFusion to treat this as a full screen application" but no joy, then I unchecked the Disable DisplayFusion Taskbars..... and so far it worked. I tried four restarts of the game without any problems so all that remains is for me to say thankyou very much for your help in this matter Owen

Hi Alan,

Glad to hear! We are aware of this issue happening with a few games, but unfortunately we don't have a solution. That's our current work around.

Thanks!

Ironically I have close to 600 games and Metro Exodus and Red Dead Redemption are the only two that I have noticed it happening on. You would think at 69 years old I would have out grown games but got to fill the hours somehow. :)
