How long after they close do the TitleBar Buttons stay on the screen? Is the application fully closed? (i.e. it now longer shows up in the Windows Task Manager?)

Ok, could you enable debug logging and send over the logs next time it occurs? Here are the steps:
  • On the Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal"
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Send us the DisplayFusion.log and DebugInfo.html files (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks!

Hi Keith.

I'm experiencing the same problem on my computer. Actually, the title bar ghosting problem has been around for at least a couple years. The icons remain on screen for about 10 to 20 seconds, as madlyfe mentioned. When many applications are open, after a while the ghosting happens. So, it seems like there's a delay in updating the screen before the title bar icons move to the window or dialog box where they are supposed to appear.

I wonder whether the graphics driver might be the reason? Anyway, here are my computer specs. Not sure if they will be of help or give a clue. I'd like to know if this problem occurs on newer computers, as well.

My computer is an old DELL Precision 390 that dates to around 2006 (yeah, that old). The graphics card is NVIDIA.

@madlyfe: I noticed you're running Bitdefender. After your machine has been running for a while, is the memory usage really high for DisplayFusion.exe?

@rupertsland: Are you also running Bitdefender by any chance?

Thanks! That looks normal. What other programs are you able to reproduce this with? Just wondering if I can test it out here, but I don't have access to Ninja Trader :(

Ok, unfortunately the L1 log doesn't provide any clues as to what could be happening. Could you set the logging to L2 and then send a new copy the next time the TitleBar Buttons take a while to disappear?

Awesome, thanks! For some reason DF thinks that the window is hung, so it's waiting for a while before it removes the titlebar buttons. In the Settings > Advanced Settings > Troubleshooting section, could you try enabling the "Disable Hung Window Detection" option, then restart DF, and let me know if you still run into this issue?

Sorry if it's bad form to reply to a thread this old but I am seeing the same behaviour on Windows 10 using multiple desktops. When using CTRL-Win-Arrow to move to the next virtual desktop I get ghosting of titlebar buttons exactly as described in the thread.

I've tried "Disable Hung Window Detection" in case that was related but to no avail.

Thanks guys! I can actually reproduce this here now as well, under two circumstances:
  • When minimizing an application that has a lot of separate windows that minimize all at once (like madlyfe's NinjaTrader app)
  • When switching virtual desktops in Win 10, or using Dexpot

I'll be sure to let you know when we're able to get this all fixed up :)

Thanks!
