It appears as though DF has been updated to no longer need the API key? There's nowhere to put one in for me (ver. 9.5). Also, I was hoping to have it draw images from a giant album I have of an entire years abroad, but it only appears to be drawing from the fist hundred or so images. It doesn't matter how many times I "load more images", DF never chooses anything than these few at the start.

If I'm doing something wrong (specifically if the API key is the issue here), guidance would be appreciated.

I've split this off, as it's related to Google Photos, not the Google Image Search source.

The Google Photos source doesn't need an API key, it uses your login token, so you're all good there :)

Regarding the number of images, when we call the Google Photos API with the search terms, it only returns about 30 results :(

We're looking at ways to pull more results for a future update, so we'll be sure to let you know when we've got that sorted out.

Thanks!

Thanks for the update, Keith! And sorry for the misplaced post. Apparently trying to sort this stuff out at 1 in the morning was a poor decision.

Cheers! :)

Resurrecting this thread. Been a while!

So I was wondering if anything has ever happened with this? The issue seems to have expanded, because now when I login to my Google account via DisplayFusion, it won't let me select an album. Just grays that option out and says "no albums", whereas if I search just under "photos", it will just grab in chronological order from the 8 billion photos I have on my account. This does me no good because I just want to pull from a particular album. I'm assuming this is a new bug?

EDIT - Well, I just upgraded to 9.7.2 beta 4, and the albums option works again, but it appears there hasn't been any movement on dealing with the limited number of draws the program will make from an album. Still will only work with the first 100 images and never show anything beyond that no matter how many extra images you pop into the chamber.

Hi Michael,

The photo limit is a limitation of the google photos API. It's limited to 100 images for the call, so unfortunately there's not much we can do here.

Sorry we couldn't be of more help!

Well, if it's an issue on their end, then I guess it is what it is! Thanks for the update. I'll have to look into copying over some backups to use local copies. Thanks!
