Is there anyway way to make taskbar icons group with their shortcuts on the taskbar like the default Windows 7 taskbar does?

Also, this is nitpicking but I've noticed that icons, when grouped, appear much narrower than they do on the Windows 7 taskbar. I've included a picture of this.

Both of these issues are on our list of things to fix up, and we'll be sure to note it in the change logs as soon as we release a version with either of the fixes :)

Thanks!

Just a quick follow up to let you know we've fixed this up in 4.0.1 Beta 6.

Thanks!

Is this the problem that he was talking about? I've updated to 4.0.1 Beta 7 and the programs are still not grouped with their pinned icons (Spotify and Outlook).

Sorry, my bad! We're still working on making the pinned items group with the running items.

The other issue with the grouped button size being different from the Windows taskbar (shown in his screen shot) is all fixed up though :)

hi there,
just picked up this old conversation about grouping the items with the running ones. this was working for me in 5.0.1 version but has stopped after installing the new 5.1 version. is there a setting that switches this functionality on/off?
thanks

There is a setting for it, though it would be weird if it turned itself on after the update. There are two settings you can check:
  • Right-click the DF taskbar, navigate to Multi-Monitor Taskbar > Group Buttons > Enabled
  • Right-click the DF taskbar, navigate to Multi-Monitor Taskbar > Shortcuts > Combine with Taskbar Buttons

If neither of the above two options help, please let me know :)

Thanks!

thanks for your reply Keith,
the two settings from your post did not turn off by themselves. Shortcuts grouping was set to "Combine with taskbar icons" and Group buttons was set to Automatic (have changed it to Enabled after rebooting, just in case).
it looks like the PC just needed a reboot after the upgrade :) it is working OK now.
cheers
