For the most part, Ignore Deactivation is working for me and I'm very happy about that.

However, one thing that's bugged me for quite some time is that I am still unable to use Hotkeys to enable/disable functions. Specifically I'd like to enable Igore Deactivation for games I haven't created that option for so I can test.

Currently, the only way to make it work, and no way to turn it off, is to make sure I have the Window Location created for that game/software.

Some games don't allow global hotkeys to be invoked while they're running and full screen. Do the DisplayFusion hotkeys work correctly when you're not in a game? (i.e. the Move to Next Monitor hotkey, etc)?

Hi. Could someone please show me how to do this "Ignore Deactivation" feature with DF? And is there also a feature for switching over mouse cursor to next monitor?

I've checked the hotkeys and couldn't find the key for it. I've also tried adding a custom hotkey action but there's no "Ignore Deactivation" to be found.

Basically what I want to do is to play a game (ex: warcraft III) on fullscreen mode on my primary monitor and yahoo messenger on my secondary monitor. And I would like to be able to have the cursor switch to my secondary monitor and chat on yahoo messenger without warcraft III goes out of focus on my primary monitor. Cause if warcraft III goes out of focus, it gets minimized instantly. I can only do alt tab now and it's very inconvenient.

Thanks before!

The Function is actually called "Prevent Window Deactivation," so you should see it in the Settings > Functions tab under that name :)

If it doesn't work when run from the hotkey, you can also try having it run from a Window Location rule: http://www.displayfusion.com/FAQ/#preventwindowdeactivation

Hope that helps!

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I followed the tutorial for adding a new window location rule but I couldn't find the 'Prevent Window Deactivation' function. I have double checked the whole list of functions again but I still can't find it. Is the feature not yet available on DF 4.0? Thanks again.

Ah ok, that Function wasn't added until 4.1. If you have a purchased license, it's a free upgrade, so I'd recommend just updating to the latest version (5.0).

Thanks!

Hi. Yea, I have just purchased a DF pro on steam license. It was kind of confusing to install DF through steam client and it took me awhile to figure out how to. Gonna try updating and see how it goes. Will update here. Thanks.

Hi. I have updated df pro to version 5.0 and I have tried the ignore deactivation function but still it does not do what I want to do. What it does is I start my game (warcraft III) and warcraft III starts full screen on monitor A. Then I press the hotkey I have set for the ignore deactivation function (win + `) and I hear a sound, presumably because df detected the hotkey. But then how do I move my mouse cursor to my next monitor (monitor B)? I have tried alt tab but it doesn't work. In fact when the ignore deactivation function is toggled (on) for the warcraft III, I can't even alt tab. Whereas when the ignore deactivation function is off, I still can alt tab though warcraft III will get minimized instantly when it goes out of focus.

Please help me. Thanks again.

Ok, interesting! The function might not work with all games, but I'll test out WarCraft III when I get a chance to see if I can get it to work here. In the meantime, can you try having it activate using a Window Location rule to see if that works? You can also try adding a delay in the rule.

Hi. Well unfortunately when I wrote my previous comment, I had also tried the window location rule. And following your suggestion I have just tried adding 2.0 seconds delay time but it does not make any difference. Anyway, is there a way to move my mouse cursor to next monitor? Like adding a function so when I press a hotkey (let's say win + `), my mouse cursor immediately moves to a fixed position on the next monitor.

Thanks for helping me. I hope this problem gets resolved.

Ok, no worries! I should get a chance to test this out next week, so I'll keep you posted as soon as I do.

Thanks!

Hey Keith, have you had the chance to test it out? I'm still hoping for a solution. Thanks!

Sorry for the delay, I haven't had a chance to test it yet. It's still on my list though, and I'll be sure to post an update as soon as I have tested it out :)

Thanks!

Ok, I just had a chance to try this out. It looks like while the function does allow you to alt-tab to change focus to another application while WC3 stays full screen, unfortunately WC3 appears to be locking the mouse cursor itself to the game :(

After some more testing, this workaround seems to deliver the best results:
  • Add the -window switch to the WC3 shortcut to launch it in Windowed Mode (see attached screenshot for reference)
  • Set a key combination on the "Lock/Unlock Mouse Cursor to Current Focused Window" Function in DisplayFusion
  • Launch the game from the shortcut that you edited, and optionally maximize it
  • Press the key combination you assigned in Step 2 to lock the mouse cursor to the window so that you can still easily edge scroll
  • When you want to switch to another app, just press the key combination again to unlock the mouse cursor

Hope that helps!

Hi. I've just tried the method you suggested and it almost works perfectly. Except even when the cursor is locked to the warcraft 3 window, and I move the cursor all the way to the right, it still pops out on the secondary monitor (even if it's just a little). Thus when I click my mouse while I scroll, the game gets out of focus. Any idea how to prevent this (cursor still pops out a little on the secondary monitor)? I appreciate your help so far, Keith. Thanks before!

Ok, you might be able to fix that up in the DisplayFusion Advanced Settings. Try setting the "General: Mouse Cursor Lock to Window: Change X" to something like -5 or -10.

Hope that helps!
