I have installed the DisplayFusion trial because I wanted to see if it can help me in my multi-monitor setup. I have the following monitor configuration:

4
3 2 1

where 2 is the main (central) monitor.

I want to completely ignore monitor 4 when moving windows arround with the Win+Direction keys (i.e. never move a window to monitor 4). I have successfully adjusted the monitor order in advanced settings and ignore monitor 4. This works great with the "Move Window To Next Monitor" function, but not for Win+Direction. "Size and Move Window to X Side of Monitor" does not help, because it does not move windows across monitor.

Any chance of achieving what I want?

The Win + Arrow Keys hotkeys are Windows hotkeys, not DisplayFusion ones, so they don't know that the monitor should be ignored. I believe if you download the "Better Win+Left/Right" functions on the Settings > Functions tab, and give them key combinations (like Ctrl + Alt + Left/Right), they should do what you're looking for.

Hope that helps!

I've already tried the better Win+Left/Right scripts. But these move the Window to the 'next' monitor, as defined in my monitor ordner, they do not allow to go to the 'left' or 'right' monitor.

So if I have a Window on my main monitor (2), I cannot move it to the left monitor (3) with Better Win+Left. I can only cycle through with Win+Right. But that's not really helpful.

Next and Previous should be right and left, it doesn't necessarily go by monitor ID number. If you run the Better Win+Left function on monitor 2 (your middle monitor) where does it end up?

The resized window moves to the left side of Monitor 2, but it stays there. I cannot move it to Monitor 3 (the most left monitor) with further key presses.

Ok, that's definitely not working the way it should then. Could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info? I'll test it out here with your monitor setup and see if I can get it working :)
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Copy to Clipboard" button
  • Paste the text into a text file (please don't paste the text directly into your reply, the formatting gets garbled and makes it difficult to parse)
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks! I tested with your monitor layout and advanced settings, but it seems to work correctly for me. Could you attach a debug log?
  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue where the window won't move to the left monitor and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Send us the DisplayFusion.log and DebugInfo.html files (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Sorry for the late reply. Here are the logs.

I've tried at 13:21 on 27/11 to move my browser windoe (chrome) to the left with the Better Win+Left script. I've also used Better Win+Right to cycle through the screens.

Thanks! Was it on the primary monitor, not at the left edge, and then when you pressed the hotkey, it did nothing?

Yes. I had the window open on the primary monitor (2) in a maximized window. Then I pressed Better Win+Left, this moves the Window on the primary monitor to the left edge, but then it stays there and does not move to the monitor on the left (3).

Ok, thanks! I can't seem to reproduce this here with your same monitor setup. Could you send me a backup of your DisplayFusion Settings? You can export them on the Settings > Options tab.

Thanks! Still working fine for me, with your monitor layout and settings. I'm stumped! Do you use a custom theme on Chrome?
