I am trying out the latest version of DisplayFusion and currently facing an issue with the triggers.

One of the triggers works perfectly until I reboot. After the reboot one of them stop working. I tried restarting the program and the service but did not help.

The trigger is set to wait for 10 seconds before it starts. I tried with different setting but no changes.

The trigger is suppose to work each time the external screen is turn on or off. I configured 2 different profiles for it.

Each screen has a different resolution and a different default sound speaker setting set for it.

The trigger is suppose to launch a batch file because I need to reset a program. The program uses screen macros that need to be reset when the screen is extended or back to normal.

Is there a solution for this?

Hi John,

Could you send me over a screenshot of the trigger that's having issues?

Thanks!

Hi John,

Thanks for sending that over. Can you add a "Show Tray Notification" action to see if that fires on the trigger after a reboot? That should tell us whether the trigger itself is having trouble firing, or if it's an issue with that macro.

Thanks!

I did a test with a notification and nothing changed. No notifications.

Anyway, when it was working before the reboot, it work normally when launching a batch file. So I can see a CMD console window. It worked for almost a week before I restarted.

This is the 2nd time it did not work. About 2 weeks ago I created another trigger that also worked for a while before it stopped that was more or less the same as this one.

It seem to get the ball rolling again if I save the profiles again.

But this should be automated. Any comments?

After you restart, if you open the DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration window, is a profile shown as detected in the upper left corner?

You are correct to ask that.

No it does not detect any particular profile. Seems to just be on Default.

Is there a way to load a profile from a shortcut or a hotkey without having to access displayfusion to get it going again?

Yep, you can add a key combination to a monitor profile via the DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration window, and load it that way. You could also create a trigger in DisplayFusion that uses the "DisplayFusion Starts" event, and loads the monitor profile that way. That would load your monitor profile automatically each time DisplayFusion is started.

Hope that helps!

The loading of the profiles did not work. It still does not seem to detect the profile, even after loading it. So far it only shows the detected profile after it is saved and then the triggers start working again.

Any tips on this?

Thanks

Strange, it sounds like something is changing on your system after you save the profile, causing DisplayFusion to not detect that monitor configuration. If you save a monitor configuration, reboot and load it right away, does it fail to be detected?

Thanks!

I did a quick test now and got the same results.

It did not detect the profile after the boot up either while loading the profile right away.

Do you have any tips or idea of why it is not working?

I would need to set each profile and save it for the triggers to work. Not just one.

Could you send me over two copies of your troubleshooting info? One right after the monitor profile is saved and it's working, and another after your reboot and it's not working. Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks!

I am unable to comply with your request to share such info because it includes information about my system as well.

Hi John,

Without that troubleshooting info, we're a bit stuck. You can take a look at it on your end before/after a reboot, and see if there's anything you notice that's changing, like the monitor ID's swapping.

Would you be okay with sending over the output from this program?

If so, you can just copy and paste the output into a notepad file and send it over.

Thanks!

That won't be possible either.

Can you narrow down the information that is required. It is huge and too much to filter out.

But it is divided into sections. So Just specify the section that you need and I will do it.

The System Information, "SortByDeviceID..." sections, Monitor Profiles, and Advanced Settings are the one's I'm most interested in :)

Thanks!

Thank you for your patients.
The requested section does not contain any differences either before or after saving the profile.

Is it possible to save the profile without having to open that page?

Do you have other suggestions to try to get it to detect the profile?

Nevermind!

I got it solved using a different program called Autohotkey.

Hi John,

Ah, glad to hear! I'm curious how AutoHotKey helped here?

Thanks!

I checked online if it was possible and saw some threads in regards to similar requests. So then I posted a request and got the solution in about 24 hours. It works very well.... so far.

Here is the Autohotkey thread and solution.
